Doing a sponsored walk with my niece and nephew in Regents Park. :D

Didn't know they was a diabetes week lol I will probably be eating loads of sugar :D

That is the week before the week I was diagnosed so it will be my first anniversary.(Any presents should be Belgian chocs!!  )

Hi SarahQ,
If you're starting to pump on the 11th surely your tag line of being type 1 for 43 years with no complications isn't strictly accurate.
I've been pumping for 9 months and know that there are stringent guidelines that must be met before a pump can be considered

Hello Sarah

I also know a tiny bit about the NICE guidelines for insulin pump therapy.

Are you having a lot of hypos using animal insulin and that is why you are being considered for pump therapy? If so, I'd be interested to know if the pumps helps in that respect.

Type 1 - 42 years

Hi Twinky,
Are you a pumper as well?
Would be fandabidoesy to find another pumper to talk to especially about something other than carbs. I've read and spoken so much about carbs that I dream about potato and rice mountains with the lesser spotted carbling bird(like a starling but white) lives.
What pump are you on? I'm on the paradigm 522 but waiting for an animas cos I'm having probs with the quicksets. I'm a builder by trade so sweat a lot & the sets won't stick. Have only cemented line in a wall twice

No doubt you'll find it a breeze going onto a pump.
Am surprised that you're having to wait until the 11th if you've got your own pump.
I assume you'll not be using animal insulin in your cozmo. Is the animal insulin causing hypos which is why you're going over to a pump?

I'll always get my tools out for a lady.
You can play with my tubing anytime you want to darlin'
Shame you ain't got a pump we could compare sizes.
Back to the Hugh Heffner mags for me then. Have finally got past the beano though I do miss my Dennis the Menace

Twinky it's 23 but for you I could get the 46. If you come and sit on my lap we can talk about the first thing that comes up.
Sarah, hate to disagree with you but I've been using actrapid in my pump for months with no complications

I used actrapid in my pump too. My consultant checked that it was ok to use it and got the all clear.
Sarah it might be an idea to get any information you can from people who have used and are using pumps. Being so defensive and alienating people will only get peoples backs up.
One day you may desperately need advice and not get it because of your previous actions.
We're all here because we're diabetic and even though you've been diabetic for 43 years there's still stuff for you to learn

You're right Fuggsy, everyday's a school day on this forum.

Novo Nordisk don't really recommend using actrapid in pumps.

Anyone pumping with it needs to be more alert about the possibility of blockages.
A total blockage in an infusion set could lead to very high sugars, very quickly.

all the best,
the fuzz.

P.S. don't be too hard on sarahQ - her spelling and punctuation have come on leaps and bounds this term.

Let's keep it clean and friendly ladies and gents
