Diabetic melatonine

I just found absolutely LOADS of stuff on t'interweb re: Diabetes and Melatonin. Very interesting stuff. Links to Vitamin B12 and melatonin for T2 diabetics.

I'll be researching this a lot more...

I started here:

Thanks Patch, we do know that Melatonin is a natural hormone that regulates the human biological clock. Unfortunately we do not know exactly what we are talking about here as there is nothing relating to Diabetic Melatonin as a diagnosis...... :? (confused not a frown) :D

I didn't know that until 5 mins ago. Glad it was brought to my attention, though.

Take it easy, Ken - turn that frown upside-down! :D

Hello,
My son has received a letter saying he has Diabetic melatonine 12, can you tell me what this is or means.

Where is this letter from? and who sent it?
Has your son just had a blood test?

Is it possible that a medical secretary has typed diabetic melatonine 12 instead of diabetes mellitus T2 bearing in mind the state of most doctors hand writing :D

The article on melatonin, fascinates me, especially as I've been a poor sleeper all my adult life.

Also interesting to me as I have always had problems with sleep not getting enough, getting too much, unable to get to sleep unless completly and utterly exhausted. At one point I had a weird cycle of being awake for nearly 48 hrs then sleeping 12 sometimes slip back into it too.

My son recently had a glucose test as he was first told that he was T2, then the Doctor said he wasn't sure he was Diabetic, the letter came from the Blood Clinic and just said Diabetic Melatonine of 12 which we don't understand.

If you are not sure about (a) the diagnosis, (b) the result quoted in the letter, you need to get back and see the GP and get this cleared up. Your Son needs to know exactly what he has been diagnosed with, if anything. Diabetes or pre-Diabetes. or nothing ? That way we can advise you/him better. It may be that the Melatonin issue is some sort of grading ? I would have to do more research into it.

My advice is to see your GP and discuss ALL the issues.
