Hi , I've noticed on here quite a lot mention seeing their dn I've been T2 for over 15 yrs and never been offered one , in fact no help what so ever , if your bg are going worse I'm just offered a new med ...which I'm not taking ...I've come back on here to get help this time and so far going on Lchf seems to be working for me lol

I find it strange not all diabetics are offered a specialist hospital clinic with consultants and nurses.......

I suppose there isn't a hospital/clinic near everyone in the country or maybe the resources to provide a uniform service........

its definitely worth it though, so if you have a hospital near you, asked to be referred as they can offer a more supportive, scientific role in your battle to keep good BG.....

I don't think Type 2's are generally offered hospital clinics if they are not on insulin. They are treated (or not treated) by the Practice. NICE has a care pathway that all GP's should follow. http://pathways.nice.org.uk/pathways/diabetes/managing-type-2-diabetes This includes at least annual reviews, more if necessary, foot care, retina screening, dietary advice and education, plus guidelines on managing blood pressure, cholesterol and CV disease as well as diabetic complications.

Well done on arriving here. This is the best place for help and support.

Yes can confirm T2's aren't offered hospital clinics. My DN is a practice nurse at a different surgery, that have now merged with mine. my practice nurse couldn't advise on insulin practices etc. And i only see the DN because my bloods were up the spout completely but then thats only twice in 3 months, i email her my finger prick tests and current blood results etc however shes prescribed my insulin, Victoza and suggests whether to increase / decrease things etc.

Report the surgery to the patients association.
No I never heard of it till I saw the news today about checking and closing rubbish surgeries ... I think I'll be waving goodbye to mine.
