So I have had my 9 month review since being diagnosed at the end of last August. My HbA1c is now 35. Down from 37 at Christmas and 50 at diagnosis! My cholesterol is sorting itself out overall level a bit high but ratio really good at 3.5. Blood pressure normal. All other blood tests normal! I have lost 7.5 stone since beginning of Sept last year using my fitness pal to count calories (1,000 - 1,300). I did very low carb for first 6months (less than 50g) but am now regularly between 80 and 110g. I found I was dropping too low sometimes below 4 and feeling grotty so needed to increase a bit. I do "eat" my exercise if I want/need to. I try to do min 5000 steps a day and like to have 3 days a week above 10000. I feel like a new woman! I have so much energy and a new motivation in my life. Last August I thought my life had ended - the diagnosis terrified me. But this forum, loads of reading and a bit of bloody mindedness has meant that I have turned my health around. I never believed that this weight loss was possible and certainly not this quickly. Low carb is quite frankly a miracle and I don't think I will ever want to add pasta rice potatos or bread back into my diet as a regular feature. I do now allow myself the odd treat - chips if we go out - maybe a thin Italian pizza. I also find I can eat the odd cake if I walk afterwards and my carbs otherwise for the day are low. If you are wondering about low carb, don't just go ahead and try it! You won't look back!

Thank you..... very inspirational, the kind of hope I have. I am still in terror / fright / despair / confusion mode.

Well done you.

Brilliant results @Goldiespring, you must be rightly very pleased with yourself and your efforts, that have paid off so well. Just shows that a touch of bloody-mindedness comes in handy once in a while . :D

I am a one person crusade for low carb! People started by telling me it could not be done but now want advice about how to do it for themselves!
