Diabetics R Us

Afternoon all

Sunny here, back home from Canterbury in the motorhome. Son & DIL coming for dinner today, I had a large pork loin joint in the freezer so thought a roast would be good. I got the joint out and it's a rolled turkey crown , hey ho roast turkey for dinner .

I got stung on the finger by a wasp this morning and its sore :arghh:

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday.

@Guzzler Hope you are having a great weekend away. Where are you? Did you leave your meter behind?

@karen8967 Happy Birthday!
I'm back! We went to Devon, I took my meter but on Antje's sterling advice I did not test :). I did really well on Saturday, staying full low carb but I completely caved in today and am too embarrassed to tell of what I ate!
Testing and low Carbing will resume in the morning.
We had a fabulous weekend, and the temperature in Dawlish where the family had fish and chips on the sea front was 27 degrees! This will keep me going for ages, two trips out in one year, I will be getting a reputation as a dirty stop-out!

Sounds like a fine decision!

Aw, please tell. I love reading about food. And I hope it was awesome, whatever it was!

Oh I had a full Devonshire cream tea, that is a pot of tea with milk (still no sugar, I'm not mad!) a scone with strawberry jam and Devonshire clotted cream. I thoroughly enjoyed the sheer decadence and wickedness of it and could still taste the sugar on my lips hours later and funnily enough I feel not one jot of guilt. Later on I had a clotted cream ice cream and, yes, I ate the cone too. It is now 5am and I have a rotten headache but it was all worth it, I may not have such a treat again for years. I brought the second scone home with me but I will offer it to the first XL son who raises his head later.
Yumdynomnom :).

Morning Guzzler & all

Had a lovely turkey dinner with the family last night, enough turkey left for a curry tonight

New lady starting at work today, planning consultant, hopefully she'll get on with the rest of us girls.

Have a good day.

H :)

You did right. You can't go to Devon and not have a full cream tea and a clotted cream ice-cream.

I didn't have the excuse of being in Devon last week. I was in Northumberland, but I had a lovely treat - a chunk of Victoria Sponge and enjoyed every crumb. On another day I had fish and chips. I did scrape the batter off the fish but ate all the chips! Oh - and I also ate half of the slice of bread and butter that came with it. I cut it into soldiers and used my fork to stab each soldier with a chip to make a few tiny chip butties. Heaven. No lasting harm done on either day. Back to high 4s before tea time.

Smashing!

Note to self: Must visit Northumberland for low carb chips! ;)

Having a bit of an off evening. Just had a go at DD cos her bedroom's a mess and its annoying me and I've just had a go at both OH & DD over the fair distribution of work in our household (there is no fair distribution of work). I thought about my morning; I got up at 5am, put the washing on, made the lunches, emptied the dishwasher, loaded what needed to go into the dishwasher, washed bits that won't go in the dishwasher & hung the washing out all while I had breakfast, got showered and ready to go to work. We all work full time but because I am last out of the house it gets left to me. I got home from work to find OH sitting watching a film, he then jumped up & got the washing in, but he left it in the basket so I sorted & folded it. DD gets home last and always walks in to tea well under way and has it put in front of her. I lost it , now feeling a bit teary :meh:.

And breathe, I do feel better for getting that off my chest. Thanks for listening :)

Anyone else want a moan? :D

Why don't you stop that and just fish out your own stuff as needed?

And while you're at it, why not tell DD to keep the door to her room closed because you don't want to see the mess. Just don't go in there anymore.
They'll both probably will become more self-sufficient when they find out things don't happen if they don't do them.

In case you weren't looking for solutions but just needed to vent, my apologies for nagging you with possible remedies. Please ignore them and rant accepted! Ranting is very healthy sometimes and may help to do the same stupid chores tomorrow!

May I have the opposite of a moan today? I've done enough moaning last week with first the mistakenly buried by neighbour hit by a car Kareltje the cat, and then the killed by the fox chickens, so I'm due a happy tale! (And may I ask, is it 3 chicken or 3 chickens? Nothing to do with the happy tale, but it has been nagging me since the fox visited, only just not enough to look it up.)

This morning my cat-burying neighbour came over to tell me he had this idea, but I should say so if I didn't like it. They (him, wife, boys, 7 and 8 years old) felt pretty sorry for burying the wrong cat, even though they know I'm thankful they did and it had a lovely ceremony, if not exactly for him.
So they figured they'd like to find me a new kitten!
I think that's just so sweet, and a perfect way to get my next cat :) It might take some time before they find one, but when they do, the boys will choose the best kitten of the nest or the shelter (I don't know where they plan to find a kitten).
The only thing I'm a little worried about is what it's name will be, as their cat is called T-Rex. I think I'll ask my neighbour what the boys are currently into, it might give me a clue.
Anyway, this just made me ridiculously happy all day!

Ahhhhh! What a lovely thought by both you and your neighbours, it restores faith in human nature.
