Diabetics R Us

I'm doing mine at the moment. I can't do too much all at once these days. I'm just having a little sit down before tackling the bathroom. I do like it when it is all sparkling. Shame it doesn't last more than a day or two in this household.

I'd rather be in the garden but it is still too wet (back garden faces north). I have always tired of housework but never tire of being outside when I'm allowed.

I'm just now waiting for Junker's statement at 4pm. This should be interesting...

I break my cleaning up into stages too, these days.

A maxim I've had for a coupla decades 'No one died because they didn't hoover'.

It is Tusk not Junker, I'm lost here.

Like all the members of Parliament. They are all lost. God only knows what is going to happen now.

Did you happen to notice the difference in tone that May used when she was in the Commons at PMQs and when she 'addressed the nation' later in the day? Softer tone still with a determined air, though, as she spoke to we the plebs. She is completely intransigent which reminds me of the time Ken Clark made that remark while he was still miked up in a tv studio. Do you remember? He said something to the affect of '....she's a difficult woman.... and we've worked with Margaret Thatcher!' This was either just before or just as she became PM.

Yes, I noticed, but I also detected that she was very angry but trying to contain it. I don't think she is well at all, to be honest, and I'm not surprised. She would do well for her own sake to let go, stand down and retire to the country with her husband for some peace and quiet. I do remeber Ken Clark saying that, and it seems what he said is true. What about Corbyn walking out of the meeting with the leaders of all the parties this afternoon - because he objected to the ex-labour chappie that defected to the Independent Group. Said he refused to be in the same room as him. Yet earlier in the day he went on and on in the Chamber about the need for cross party co-operation.

I agree, May should stand down for her own health and because she really has no support. As for Corbyn walking out on Chuka Umunna that startled me. How can we trust them to get some sort of resolution (just a compromise would suffice at this stage) when the Leader of the Opposition won't even sit at the table?

More information about the Dutch language: your voice is your 'stem' in Dutch. So 'stemmen' (to stem) literally has to do with having a voice in decisions.
Never really realised this until now :p

I'm glad you posted that because I had just looked at the word "stemmen" and wondered if it was the same as "voice."
"Stimme" in German, whereas in English "voice" is like Old French "voiz," Latin "vox."

Morning all

Foggy here this morning. Lots to do in work today, got a bit behind yesterday due to loads of interruptions.

I also think that Theresa May doesn't sound too good but she campaigned for and accepted the job knowing it was going to be a difficult one. IMHO there should be no delay and they should just get on with it, the majority (just) voted to leave and that's what we should do (not my choice btw). As for Jeremy Corbyn; I am a life long Labour supporter but I'm afraid I couldn't trust him as far as I could throw him, especially over the anti-Semitic issue, I think Chuka Umunna & co did the right thing by walking away. Just my two penneth worth.

Anyway, hope your'e all well.

Have a good day.

H :)

That ex labour chappie is not a party leader it is a group of people who call them selves independents but have never stood for election as such as it is a grouping as they themselves have said and not a political party he had no place there

Mind u conservatives only got in my their rules which govern that they can get in even when not enough votes.
So all just as sly as the others, me thinks.

It should be back to every vote counts. Not lost votes. That vote is precious but not treated so. :(

Aye, the Tiggers said 'We have no leader' but Umunna soooooo wants the position. Imo when an MP resigns the party it should trigger a by election never mind if people vote for a person or a party. While I applaud their actions their timing absolutely sucks.
