Hi Bio
I don't know why they didnt put me on any medication, this worries me what will happen If my blood sugar rises over 14? I am waiting for Hba1c test results, and will see d nurse in 2 weeeks time cos she's on holiday grrrr what will happen to me till then?I am scared to even try to eat something high carb. I hardly eat anything. But after reading posts here I am trying high protein and fat diet, but still not sure abot fats, am I allowed to use olive oil in cooking? I had some grilled pork and salmon this afternoon and I am feeling great, my testing strips are finished, cause it was only 17 with glucometer I purchased, but bought some off Ebaywill have to wait at list till Monday and then I will seriously start testing what I can and cant eat.
daisy222 said:Hello everyone, I have some good newsThanks to your advice about low carb diet I think I am doing pretty well.
I was diagnosed last Monday, and since then I eat diet full of protein and fat and non starchy veg. Remember I was out of testing strips, but they arrived this afternoon, I checked my Bs it was 2 hours after I had some baked pork ham with salad made of fresh leaves, cucumber, tomato and carrotino oil,it was 5.4mmol- unbelivable, cause I was so down and upset when I was first diagnosed, and thought nothing will help me especially that I didn't get any meds to help with diabetes. Also I got my HB1ac results, from day of diagnosis it was 6.7% , so what it means? either I got diabetes recently, in recent weeks or my diet wasn't that bad before??
Anyway thanks everyone for helping . My future now doesn't look that bad
