Fairly new to this but great to see a discussion group...finding a lot of contradictions about what you should and should not eat being a diabetic! and every time I mention it to anyone you know there thinking Uhh like it's a dirty word or something :?:

You will find that the most contentious, argumentative post on this forum are about diet!!!Why is that? well because we are all different and what works so well for one does not always work for another. The trouble is some cannot see that etcetcectc!!!
You have to experiment and see for yourself what works. What is common to all diabetics is the need to reduce carb intake. How much you need to reduce depends on your control of your blood sugar levels.

doctor and GP can sometimes leave a nasty taste in the mouth :)[/quote]

You've been told to leave them alone ! Either that or go back to the ketchup.

Start here

then take a look through the Stickies and Success Stories threads for more information

So long as you have a meter you can discover exactly what YOU can and can't eat. This will often differ significantly from what your dietician, doctor or nurse tells you to eat, which is one reason they will probably deny you the meter or test strips <sigh>
