Hi all. I have several health issues and was set to have an operation next week, went to my pre-op assessment and they did my bloods. Came back with very high HbA1c - 86 mmol/mol - so they cancelled the operation and sent me for more bloods. Results came in on Thursday and turns out I'm diabetic. Doctor talked me through basics of what it means and told me I'm eligible for a free flu shot. Its my first flu shot so wondering if it's normal for my arm to still be rather hot and itchy? The following day it was a hot, itchy hard lump and I felt unbelievably rough. Today I seem to be better but it seems to have grown and is now about 8cm and so sore

Well.. I had my first flu jab as well a couple of weeks ago. Best to check with your GP, especially if the lump's red, itchy and expanding. Flu jab's an attenuated virus and my GP said it's normal to get mild flu symptoms, and after mine it felt like my arm was bruised for a day or so.

Please go back to your GP or practice nurse, you shouldn't have a lump.
Sorry to hear of your diagnosis and cancelled op.
Hope you feel better very soon
Take care
