Just a quick reply as I do not frequent these forums that often but had an email and saw the thread title in the email. It took me straight back to my diagnosis. There has been some amazing advice on here already, but I would just like to add that for many people it can be reversed (this doesn't seem a popular theory amongst diabetics) but I am proof it can. The best thing I found was to get a meter and monitor yourself, and I used Myfitnesspal (which is free) to help watch my food and lose weight.
I was told that I was just well controlled, but have experimented with eating a lot of 'bad' foods to see if I could get back into an abnormal range and I didn't.
I believe being diagnosed Type 2 saved my life, as I was not in the best of health before I was diagnosed through my own lifestyle choices.
Good luck with whichever way you deal with the next steps.
