Diagnosis Problems

I was diagnosed Type 1 at the end of last year and I was reffered to the diabetic nurse who put me on insulin. I have recently gone to a specialist for the first time, he told me that there may be doubts as to whether I'm type 1 and has put me through a special hormone test (can't remember what it's called) to see which type I am, if any. I'm really pi##ed off as It would have made sense to have done this in the first place before prescribing me many £'s worth of meds etc. no wonder the NHS runs out of money. Just wanted to get this off my chest and see if there are any others that have a similar scenario to me :)

What are they investigating you for, MODY?
It's quite common that they don't immediately diagnose MODY. It's very rare. But I don't think they've wasted meds on you - you'd still need meds if you are MODY, and the insulin has kept you alive and well in the meantime... not a waste surely? :)
