soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
This is something I don't often do, but I thought it was about time to do it again. This afternoon, I did a BG 4.4 and then ate an apple, having weighed it and worked out i was about 16 carbs. One hor later BG eas 5.1, so 0.7 on 16 carbs in an hour. I suspect my insulin resistance may be improving. And maybe the crust on the quiche wouldn't have done too much damage. I only had so much apple( I usually eat half of one) if I hadn't had a BG of 4.4. I thought that gave me enough leaway.

Hi Mark.

Really all depends on what effect carbs has on your Bg levels. If you want to keep tight control of those levels as a T1 you can probably cover the carbs you eat, unfortunately as a T2 Hana doesn't have that luxury so has to be careful. Me too.

This is one example of how misleading some carb values of food can be.

Hana has found out that apples will do very little to bg levels even though they are XXamount of carb on data sheets. Apples do virtually nothing to my bg levels as well, the same goes for pineapple and even bananas where I'm concerned.

We are all different though so best thing is to eat, bolus some insulin (if using it) and then test 2hrs later. If you are low, then you will know that you need to bolus less insulin than you thought.

marky, test after eating an apple and see how it affects you, i myself cant eat them they send me sky high :?

I usually only eat half an apple. share with T1. I love Pink Lady apples which are probably quite high in sugar and are fairly big. I might well eat a whole "fun sized" one of a different variety.
Note I don't let my BG go above 6 if I can possibly help it 8) . I did check on my meter and there's one 6 there a couple of weeks ago, when I must have been careless. Essentially, I try to keep in the 4s. I have been diagnosed 6 years and was warned that since T2 is progressive  , I would need to increase my medication over time. I haven't! I'm using less than after diagnosis. 3 x Metformin 500 per day. I did have Gliclazide at the beginning and Starlix for a while. I still have a stash of Starlix, which I could use if I got things wrong. ( yes I do look at Use by dates, but haven't needed it anyway.)
I am tempted to try a few days with nothing, but it's actually pointless. HbA1c is due in 4 weeks and Metformin has other beneficial effects on blood vessels.
