Hello,

Question to those suffering from T2.
Once you were diagnosed with T2 Diabetes did your GP refer you to a specialist at a hospital? If so what was the specialty of the consultant and why did your GP refer you? thanks

Hiya,

I have only seen my doctor about my diabetes. The surgery are currently looking for a DN but I have been put on the list for the DESMOND course. An Endocrinologist would be my guess at the specialty of a Consultant for a Diabetic.

Hugs,

No.

I was referred for persistent hypos, which my GP was unable to verify diagnosis.
My consultant is in endocrinology. Which is the study of the internal organs, namely, pancreas, liver ,kidneys etc.
Have you been referred. What was your GPs diagnosis?

No I have not. I was just wondering who would be the specialist to deal with diabetic patients.

Never seen my GP, I only ever see a nurse, I have no idea what she knows about diabetes. Very little from my experience.

That's a disgrace, you should insist that you see your GP. A DN is there to help and do assessments and tests. She is not trained for diagnosis and prognosis.

My GP referred me to the diabetic specialist doctor at the same practice, as well as the DN. I've seen both of them twice since late April. Then my new diabetic specialist doctor referred me to a diabetes clinic due to foot problems.
