Does any one know if such a thing exists ?We have just got back from holiday, whilst we were there my ds6 had some very unexplained highs, the only thing we could put it down to was maybe the diet coke not being diet, my hubby and i would always test it before he drank it but it would be much easier if we could test it! :?

Hi,

You can use ketostix that also have a tab for glucose.

You can also use your meter to test different fluids. There was a thread on this but there was very different and mixed view on this, some deemed as a waste and should only be used for testing BG's and some thought it was very useful for when they found themselves in the same situation as you.

I myself can often tell by taste, but personally if i am ever in doubt i will use a test strip as using one for that in my eyes is much less wasteful than dealing with the after affects of drinking non-diet drinks because i'm not sure.

I think it's very much a personal thing.

When you test it with a BG meter it will say LO for diet and HI when it's not diet. You can't mistake that!

I use my meter for this, like ebony321 says it will probably say LO or HI so it's easy to tell if it's diet or not.

Hi Lexie! If you go to the pharmacy you should be able to get something called Diastix. They cost about £5 for 50 sticks and you can use them to test for glucose in your drinks. Hope that helps :)
