You don't have a bug coming on do you?I think we've done a swap and I'm getting your old numbers. FBG was 7.2 this morning (and still rising). To try to put a stop to it I've had a cooked breakfast but it's still going up. Mr C got a bit worried and is just on his way to Sainsbury in the next village to get me some Lindt 70%
I would instantly suspect an oncoming bug. I've just had 2 90% as No 2 has just been fed and we're off again in 10 mins to take Mum to get fitted with new ankle braces.@maglil55
I feel okay apart from the usual aches and pains.
This is awful, it's climbed up in to the low 9s! Mr C has just come back with the 70% and I will try 20g to see if it has a BG listing affect on me.
Hi everyone I'm newly diagnosed with type1 diabetes and I hope the forum will help me a lot
Amen to thatDown to 4.1 now - maybe sunshine and chocolate are the answer to high BG. Wouldn't it be wonderful it was that simple..
Now all we need is to discover that Prosecco and red wine are really health foods in disguise and we could make a fortune by marketing a diet that nobody would have a problem sticking to.
Morning all.
Not been DDing since we got back from relatives, mainly due to weird schedules, Montezuma chocolate truffles, and a determination to re-feed after the forced fasting last week. I have done a huge batch of beef shin slow cooked in red wine with masses of veg, so we are living on that for the mo.
Going away was a strange experience at the time, and in retrospect, even stranger.
The hunger was absurd, and really affected my mood. Think this was purely because I wasn't in control of the food going on my plate. I have certainly fasted harder and longer than that under my own steam, without the emotional aggro. But then family dynamics are often a hot button, aren't they? Plus, the eating was low fat, which has never been easy for me.
Anyway, 3.5 days of hunger, sometimes severe, and then suddenly, on day 4, it switched off. From one hour to the next.
And now I am speculating whether that was the point my body decided to go into Energy Economy Mode, because quite a lot of things felt different. I don't think it was the point that Jason Fung talks about when glycogen stores are used up, and the metabolism hikes into ketosis - because I've been eating ketogenically for months and liver dumps have been tiny.
Since we got back, Mr B (my Hero) gave me a small box of Montezuma truffles (16 chocs for £16) and I have had a bit of a choc fest on them. Although they did last 3 days, so not too bad. Fascinating outcome. They have no blood glucose impact. None at all. They are very dark, very delicious. What my mother would call 'for grown up tastes'. A far cry from those sickly sweet high street choccie boxes. There are 4 flavours, all equally delicious. Have now ordered a second box, to see if the experiment repeats.
Can I suggest biohazard for me ? Hubby's fault - he's had a bug for weeks. I thought I'd escaped it but no such luck. Hence why he is being shot with a bubble gunIt was the Montezuma truffle box on Amazon in the squiggly patterned box. There is a Union Jack box too, which is slightly cheaper, but I can't bring myself to eat Jingoist Chocs, even if it saves a few pence.
Oh @maglil55 I can't believe you are suffering another plague so soon.
You need to wrap those grandkids in biohazard suits.
Chook - 2 things 1) Like me you have a bug working on you?Well, something's definitely weird with me. I have been so ..... gobsmacked .... at my tests this morning that I've taken pix of the meter. Sorry about the times and dates on the meter being all wrong, I can't figure out how to adjust it, but.....
8.30am (minutes after I got up) but before eating breakfast

Two hours after breakfast - I repeated this test and it duplicated the result!

All I had for breakfast was a buttered Lidl protein roll with two rashers of bacon
Huh?????
I went back through my records and the last time that I had a result that high was after a bar tender in a pub gave me normal tonic instead of sugar free - and before that it was back in early August 2015 before I started low carbing.
I have no idea why it was that high - or how I could stop it doing it again in the future cos I know its the spikes that cause damage. Any ideas????
