Diet Doctor Low Carb Challenge

The salmon pie was lovely and 'normal' enough for Mr C. Can't say I was 100% thrilled with the pie crust, but definitely a big step on the road to 'normal'. I will have to work on normalizing the pie crust - I think the problem was the sesame seeds.

We had the pepper, cheese and jalapeno stuffed chicken breasts.
Very impressed. Reminded me how much i love guacamole. Should have this often.
Still not enough veg! I doubled up on the peppers, and still wanted more.
Not sure what would be suitable. Baked portabellos?

Another interesting day.... I forgot about avoiding coffee and Mr C had made me my usual double Costa Americano (black, no sugar) and it wasn't until I saw the inside of the bottom of my mug that I remembered I shouldn't have been drinking it. Ah well, try again on Monday.

Today is a fasting day for me. FBG was 6.2, an hour later it was 6.2, an hour after that it was 6.2 - I don't think I've ever had three readings all exactly the same an hour apart from each other. Does this mean my All Morning Phenomenon it isn't going up - or has it already gone up?? Went to bed on 4.8 last night - not that that seems to make any kind of difference - but it might explain why I had a very bad night's sleep which is unusual for me.

If anyone decides to make the salmon pie you really need to reduce the quantity of mayonnaise/egg/cheese mixture by at least a third. I threw nearly half of it away (in to the dogs' bowls). T'other thing is, the recipe says smoked salmon  I used a large tin of pink salmon and poked through it to get out all skin and bones (which the dogs also loved). It turned it from an expensive meal in to an affordable weekday one. Went well with asparagus and broccoli. :)

We're having one of Mr C's favourites today - lamb (and possibly chicken) kebabs (home made) and a big salad with a couple of different kinds of sauce / dips. I thought I'd have another go at trying the DD naan breads to go with it.

My internet friend in Australia who tints her chooks sent me my new avatar picture - she says it reminds her of me - which is worrying as we have never met. Do I come over as sounding pink and fluffy wearing pearls?

OK went off to bed on 6.3 got up to 7.4. I did remember No Coffee on its own some. Pre breakfast, ignoring the lack of coffee shakes, I was 7.6 which is not too drastic a rise but I'm not sure what it means? Is the coffee causing a bigger rise or not? Meantime I've had a coffee with breakfast. Will repeat again tomorrow and see what happens.

Mine was 6.2 right up until I had a second cup of coffee - decaff this time - then it jumped to 6.8. Very strange

@Chook any stress triggers, or exercise triggers that may have come into play? Up and down stairs with ironing, or similar? That would stress me. ;)
Maybe your tolerance for coffee is one cup, not two?

I'm between Libre sensors at the moment. Hate it, because I feel that I am running blind. But I am confident that my bgs are still OK. No night sweats or low wobbly points during the day, brain staying (relatively) functional.

in just 2 weeks, I have learned to be very confident with the DD effect on my bgs. So long as I stick to it. lol.

@Brunneria Good guess - I've developed a sore throat and sneezing. How lovely - a cold just in time for a weekend when we've got a lot planned.

Haven't you still got your normal monitor that you can test with? I don't think I'd like to not know how I'm doing.

I have gone off using my SD Codefree, and very rarely use it nowadays. I find it terribly frustrating to be sticking the tail on the donkey, rather than seeing the whole graph in glorious technicolor. lol.

so nowadays I usually run a sensor for 2 weeks, then don't test at all until I put the new sensor on. Tend to put sensors on for holidays, celebrations, dietary changes and experiments, and if I am feeling ill - which all add up to about 1/3rd of the time. It just makes more sense to me to pay £50 every 6 weeks, rather than the same amount on endless prick testing that tells me soooo much less. I realise this attitude isn't for everyone. And I only came round to this way of thinking after a couple of years of exploring very low carb and what it does to my body.

Until DD I couldn't find anything to deal with my DP, and endless testing was just stressing me. So I decided not to let it bother me any more. So stopped testing it. Just tracked it on the Libre, saw that it hadn't changed, and then let it go again. Of course, now with the DD Effect, I have even LESS reason to test. lol. Except for all that gloating, of course. ;)

It's a shame the sensors are so expensive. I would think it's because it's new technology and I expect they'll get cheaper in time.

What will you do while you are staying with the carb eating relatives?

If i had gone when planned, i would have been wearing my last sensor. But it has ended now. So either have to put another sensor on, or go without... Still deciding. :D

I've just checked post swimming and I'm at 6.5. Will need to wait and see where it goes from here. I feel another Oopsie sandwich coming on once my errands are complete.
Got to go get a very large birthday cake. We are all off out tomorrow - 26 of us for sister in law's birthday, brother's 70th and his eldest daughter's 43rd - but mainly his 70th. We are taking over the local Thai near enough. One of the restaurants where food is easy to select (except for rice and noodles of course). I'm going to take a pack of cauliflower rice in with the cake and ask them to make it into fried rice for me (they know us well). I will have more than 1 glass of wine tomorrow anyway!

Just for you @Chook - an Oopsie Ham & Avocado salad sandwich.
(And day 2 texture is still brilliant)

Oh my goodness, that loooks amazing.

Maybe it's this cold beginning but I've just had a dog snuffling at me to wake me up because I was sound asleep on the sofa. When I opened my eyes all three of them were staring at me looking worried. Very unusual for me.

More good news!

DD week 1: gained around 3 pounds (pretty depressing)
DD week 2: lost it again (thank goodness!)
DD week 3: lost 1.5 pounds (ecstatic!)

So I think w1 was my body adjusting to two meals a day after months of intermittent fasting.

Will wait and see what happens next.
I have said before - I will just be happy if my bg is this good... any weight loss would just be icing on the cake.

Well done, well done, WELL DONE!!!!!

Well, this cold has developed fully - including a temperature, headache, sore throat, earache, runny nose and dizzy spells. I nearly freaked out this morning when my FBG was 8.7. Mr C was luckily there to remind me my BG always gets unpredictable if I'm under the weather. Still not happy though, especially after having got down to 3.7 yesterday evening. Probably all part of the reaction to this cold.

Oh no! I hope it isnt the Plague that is going round. Mr B has had it weeks, and just can't shift it.

Let the multiple daily testing go for a few days. Pick it up again when you are feeling better. There's nothing you can do about it. Just one or two, to get a rough guide.

Take care of yourself.

How are you feeling @maglil55 ?

I'm fine now but I feel for @Chook. I was all over the place with that cold. You just have to wrap up, relax and take plenty fluids and paracetamol and spray First Defence up your nose!
Great results by the way. I'm debating whether to weigh today or Monday as 26 of us are going for a Thai tonight!

Oooh this might explain my gain this week a bit too unless it's just because I get the constipation
