Just had my first foray into the Diet Doctor website and it looks very very informative. Is this the go to place to build my meal plans for the next few months and beyond? As previously mentioned I want to lower Hba1c ASAP and eventually my weight.

My head is spinning with all of your brilliant advice and it’s a lot to take in. So it’d be handy to know if using meal plans from diet Doctor is essentially a “can’t go wrong option”

My understanding is

• Lower Carbs in meals
• Stick within a daily Carb limit
• Don’t worry about fat content
• Eat at least 2 Solid Meals a day
• Avoid Snacking where possible
• if in doubt ASK!

That about covers it. You could add fasting to your regime at a later date, but this works, yeah. :)

That's not a bad way to start out. From there you will be able to see how well it works for you. We don't all respond the same way to the same foods or meal times etc, which is where you can figure out how to fine tune things to suit yourself.

It’s just this breakfast thing I struggle with... I want to drop this for just lunch and dinner but I find it hard. I don’t want to keep resorting to bacon, eggs etc.

Nothing wrong with bacon and eggs.
However you can eat anything for breakfast you would eat any other time of day.

Leftover meat and veggies or a nice full fat yogurt with a few berries and seeds.

Nobody said you have to have typical breakfast meals at breakfast. You could do something lunch-y too. I often stick with tea. But you could roll up some cheese and ham with butter, go for full fat greek yoghurt with a couple of berries and a handfull of nuts tossed in, try some of that keto mug cake I never got the hang of making... Sometimes I just have a can of tuna with mayo, capers and olives. (I normally had salad with that, but in the winter the salad was more bitter than in the summer, so I'll be returning to adding leafy greens when the weather turns. Could just be in my head tho'.). Like some celery sticks with something on it too... Nut butters, a moderate amount of hummus, cream cheese... Yum.

Bacon and eggs are always good, unless of course you get bored of it. But then, there's loads to do with eggs.... Omelet with cinnamon and cream (and some berries on the side?), made with smoked salmon, spinach, tomatoes, cheese, herbs, spices... Thing about eggs; you can do just about anything with them. Not just scrambled, sunny side up, or omelets. You can even make eggy muffin thingies. Check dietdoctor.com for more ideas. There's plenty! :)

Does the tuna have to be in oil/brine/water?

It'll get easier to skip breakfast. I struggled with it at first - just did it a couple of times a week at first and built up to skipping it altogether. It's actually really liberating once you get to that point - up and out without all the palaver. See how you go. It'll really help to drop those BG levels, so if you can manage it, its a really great tool.

Might I suggest Bulletproof coffee first thing in the morning? It keeps me full for hours.
People have their own favourite ingredients/tastes in the way they make it but it's worth considering.

I’ve had a few sticks of cheese that’s it. I’ll probably have a bit of chicken and tomato for lunch and then have a more substantial meal for dinner!

@Type-2-Havent-A-Clue - Whilst I think your original post is very good, I think you have to experiment a bit with your eating, alongside a food diary, recording everything you eat and when, and test your blood sugars to understand the impact of whatever you ate.

Some folks dive right into T2 Full Ninja mode, and others work towards what works for them by concentrating on their blood sugars. I was part of that latter group. For me, I needed to get my numbers down. I would have preferred to be a well controlled or T2 in reverse with love handles, that a super skinny person, with raging blood glucose numbers.

If initially, if you want to drop breakfast but you find it is a real challenge, find a breakfast that's gently on your numbers and work towards dropping breakfast.

Initially, on dropping a chunk of carb, we can develop carb cravings, and if you are feeling deprived, plus have galloping cravings, it could be a significant challenge for you. I'm not saying you'd fail (how could I?), but just saying it's not uncommon.

Most of us posting here have been round this block a few times, so have largely found our ways. Of course, there will be a significant number of commonalities, in terms of how we tackle things, but I doubt very much there will be too many dietary twins.

Don't set yourself too many goals all at once would be my contribution. Food diary + testing = real, immediate time, personal feedback. Knowledge is power, some bloke said.

Nothing wrong with nothing for breakfast either..
First thing I did on diagnosis was give it up. It was always a carb fest for me so best avoided.
