1970,

You would be better off having a pint of lager than a pint of normal lemonade!!.
On Sunday, I went for a carvery with my missus (Meat and non root veg only). At the end of the meal, I had been drinking pints of tap water. She left a glass of diet coke, so I decided to knock it back. On downing it, I suspected that it wasnt the diet variety. When we arrived back home, I did a one hour test expecting a slightly higher reading due to the high veg intake, but my reading was much higher than expected!!. It must have been full blown coke!!.
In future I will ask to see the bottle, but in the meantime, I would give the full blown lemonade a wide berth if I were you!!.

Steve.

Personally I don't usually drink very much when I am eating as it can dilute the stomach acid and make digestion more difficult, and my digestion is not brilliant at the best of times.

Another option you could try if you are just in a pub to drink is to either have water, or what I do occasionally - a small bottle of pineapple or other juice, preferably without any added sugar if poss, diluted half and half or more with water.

They must sell other low-calorie (and therefore low-carb/sugar) drinks too so it might be as well to ask. It annoys me that they don't sell low-cal lemonade on the rare occasions I might like a Pimm's or something but I rarely drink alcohol anyway as I don't actually like it very much, or the way it makes me feel!

I tend to avoid low-calorie drinks as they are usually awash with Aspartame which is not good for the body. These days I try not to put anything in to my body that is not easy for my body to deal with, so anything processed or 'chemicalised' is out.

In my experience the words 'low-calorie' usually interprets as 'chemicalised rubbish'.

It has been over a half a year since I last had a soda of any kind. I feel worlds better now and would suggest to anyone to detox after they eliminate soda from their diet. The Master Cleanse being one of the best ways. The journey to becoming soda free has been long but well worth it. Since doing this, none of my previous symptoms have returned.

Maple syrup, I don't think so ! :? :?

This recipe says 14 tbl spoons of maple syrup.A tblspoon is 20 gms.
There are 67.2 gm of carb per 100gm in maple syrup, therefore this recipe contains 188.16 gm of carb per 2 litre bottle !! This certainly does not fit in with a low carb diet!!

The problem with diet drinks from pubs or resturants is they often just give the normal stuff. I watch them like a hawk.

Worst I had was a flight to Hong Kong where everytime I asked for diet coke the stewardess assured me it was definatley diet, a shed full of diet cokes later I was as high as the Jumbo  found out she had been giving me normal coke and said she did not think it mattered. She was very sexy though so could be forgiven.

Now I ask to have the can or see them pour it. :)

I wish you had told me sooner cugila. I've just been to Tescos and bought everything I need to start that Master Cleanse tomorrow.

Jim.

If you weren't always off trawling the net you MIGHT have seen it earlier..........

What's a joke ..... :?

Since I don't trust anyone not to give me full-strength coke, etc, from the squirty machine by mistake, I always go for soda water in the pub. It also has the added benefit of often being free, though there was the occasion when I was charged £1.60 for a half-pint glass of soda water in a pub once :( The best places are the ones where they pour your pop out of a big, labelled/branded bottle but they're few and far between, I'm afraid.
Cheers, BB :D
