Type of diabetes

hi, following my previous thread, could someone please make up a diet plan for my t2 diabetic, high cholesterol, high blood pressure parents, they won't take their bloods as the doctor told them not too, problem is they like carbs
 
Could you not get your parents to join the forums here ? If they refuse to test their blood sugars because their Dr has said don't .. then they are not going to be happy to change their eating habits that will also go against their Drs advice.
 
Is their time and budget restricted in anyway?

Any no, no's for them ie disliking certain foods?

How old are they? Sorry, this does seem to be relevent as the older some persons are the more they want to just rely on medicines and not willing to change their foods....

Sorry... May seem like daft questions but important in some aspects.

Do they go out to eat or mainly home birds?

Do you have any meals together where you could prepare something?

dads been diabetic for a few years but only borderline and mum about 3-6 months, they eat out but only at the likes of sainsburys cafe, they eat together

Maybe buy them a copy of Michael Moseley's Blood sugar diet book. He's a doc and on the telly so they might believe what he has to say rather than you? Depending on how keen they are to control their type2 it could lead them to thinking about eating in a new way. Then you could start to think Low Carb Higher Fat for them to continue the good work.
 
Are you actually diabetic yourself as your profile says you are T2 or is it just your parents. There is no specific diet plan for a diabetic as everyone is different in what they can eat but if you could just persuade your parents to cut down on the starchy carbs and sugar stuff that would help them. If they are like many of the hundreds of diabetics that are out there who will only follow what their medics say you may have a hard job on your hands to change them

Most practical suggestion. Brilliant idea and this guy talks so much sense.
 
thanks for the suggestions, I'm not diabetic just my parents, since they've been diagnosed they've really cut down the sugar, I'll suggest that they purchase the book
