Tony.

Doesn't work that way I'm afraid. YOU are going to have to work out your own eating plan to suit YOUR body and YOUR likes and dislikes of various foods/drinks.

I CAN suggest that you start by reducing your carbohydrate intake and avoid foods that are medium and high on the glycaemic index, reduce your portion sizes in line with the glycaemic load. Reduce your fat, salt and sugar consumption. Avoid breads, flour based products, starchy root vegetables, rice, pasta and potato. That's just for a start. That is also my diet. I am not a low carber per se.

To do that you will need a carb counting book of some sort. Collins Gem are the favoured ones, available from W H Smith. You should see that there are also GI/GL/Calorie and any number of other books available as well. Buy what suits you best. I use other books such as the Calorie, Carb and Fat Bible 2009. None of them have the same readings for the same foods so they are really only guides.

Forget about labels that say ..of which sugars. It is the total carb content you want to take note of, this includes sugars and also carbs convert directly to glucose so have the most effect on your Bg levels. It gets pretty complicated until you get your head around all the conflicting information. It does become clearer though.

You will find that there is no one set diet plan. Everybody has worked out what suits them and usually sticks to it. It is also a case of trial and error, sometimes more errors than anything else until you get the hang of it.

You will find people on here telling you to eat more fat, don't eat any gluten, take supplements, use soy milk, eat spelt bread, keep your Bg numbers to non-daibetic levels.....my head hurt when I first came here. I soon learned that what works for one does not work for everybody, especially ME !!

As for working out your Bg levels....? There is no calculation involved just use your meter, or have I misread what you are asking ? If you have Excel or similar on your computer it is a simple matter to set up your own spreadsheet to cover the food you eat and the results from your Bg testing. I sometimes use it for my own readings etc, but quite often I just used a notepad with a page for a day and entered all the detail there. Clear and easy to read. More importantly it was all my own work.

So Tony, now is the time for YOU to do some work......
