Hi, I'd just like to ask if there is anyone else ou there with diabetes, colostomy and bad heart please. Although I hope not for your sake! It's just the trouble I am having is that the doc has said go on low carbs, but everything I have read says that means it is high fibre which I can't have and if I look up low fibre/low carbs then it comes back with high fat which I also can't have. So, I am getting increasingly stuck as to what to eat. It looks like I'll be stuck with meat and eggs at this rate. :(

Maybe ask your GP for a referral to a dietician thats what their there for :D They should be able to look at your diet after considering all of your conditions and tweaking it to suit your needs.

I cant think of anything else to suggest for you but wish you good luck as well

Thanks both, I will take your advice and ask for a referral for dietician at either heart clinic (this week with nurse) or if she won't then with the doctor at my review on the 29th. Until now I have been eating Wiltshire Farm Foods meals as I thought they were nutritionally balanced, but I do like my bread and so have sandwiches at tea time. I can eat certain vegetables peas (few), carrots and broccoli if they are all cooked to melting pot levels, but mainly live off chicken breast, mash or chips. The stupid thing is that I absolutely adore salads and really miss my lettuce of all things. I will see what they come up with. Thanks a lot.

Hi. As Sid says, a dietician should be sought for your difficult position. Is it possible for you to have any unsaturated fats? If the no-fat regime is due to the general advice to avoid fats if you have a heart problems then this may be worth discussing with the dietician as foods such as fish etc may be OK depending on the colostomy and what the dietician suggests.

I'm thinking on going on a gluten free diet, because my mom said, that she had read, that some dentist had found out, that if
you get a lot of blisters in your mouth, which I do, you might have be allergic to gluten or gluten allergy . But what can you actually eat? And what can you not eat? can you give me a list of all the things i can/can't eat?
