diet

yes ,I have been trying to control my carb intake ,I have a few other illnesses as well I don't know if they have any bearing on the problem

Have you checked you thyroid? A thyroid even just slightly out of whack can mess up weight enormously.

I am sure someone will be along soon to advice you on diet. I myself am a fan of LCHF as I lost a lot of weight on it and feel fab.

I tried it but was having difficulties maintaining it ,it played havoc with sugar levels .my thyroid has been checked but I do have progressive liver disease

How come? Usually it is much easier to maintain even levels with a low carb diet.

I don't know ,im very worried about it now ,my levels went down then up when I cut carbs back very low ,felt very odd at times

You are on insulin, right? When on low carb, did you reduce insulin?

I am out of my depth here, but I know several t1 who find life so much easier on LCHF but you apparently need to be vigilant on bg/insulin during the transition to low carb.

Not always with a liver disease. High fat can increase the damage.

is their a link to a diet that's not low carb high fat please ?

There aren't that many.
I went for a low GI, and also looked at low GL.
Low GI food is absorbed more slowly, and the smaller load in low GL meant my bs stayed down. Portion control, and really healthy, and I've good bs, and lost 4 stones.
You need a meter, and try different foods, test before, and two hours after.
For me, no processed food, no sugars, no white flour, rye is better, no pasta , basmati rice is ok, but everyone's unique.
And a lot of veg!

I use a meter ,I have been doing so for a few years ,diagnosed 4 years ago , whats gL ?

GL is glycemic load, as in how heave an effect it has on your bg.

What problems do you have, apart from weight and diabetes?

What do you eat now?
I suppose I low carb somewhat , cardiac and liver problems along with very bad circulation problem in one of my legs , detiorating eyesight , today for instance I had 2 boiled eggs for breakfast ,lunch was mince and veg plus a boiled potatoe, evening meal was one egg,one bacon,4 mushrooms and a tomatoe

GI glycemic index

the index on which a food appears, depending on fast you digest it, lower the better on a scale of 1 to 100

GL glycemic load

the load the food places on you, eg, a small quantity of a high index food would be relatively less load than a very large quantity of a medium index food.
