Sounds pretty good to me,, apart from the weetabix and perhaps the appleToday
Weetabix
Cheese, cucumber, apple
Mackerel, leeks, courgettes, broccoli
Greek Yoghurt with blueberries
Almonds
That is my first day of trying to eat what I should, is that right? Before my diet was full of carbs and sugar
Yep as the others have said try without the weetabix (especially in the morning when you could be more susceptible to carbs spiking your already elevated blood glucose due to dawn phenomenon) and apple.Today

Hi @Sarahswim, firstly sorry you have joined this not so exclusive club, but congratulations on seeking advice from here. The truth is your body will not be able to eat the accepted so called norm. I can promise that for savoury type foods there are so many combinations, it is impossible when educated to get bored. The difficulty to replace (if you need to) is sweet stuffs. Again whereas bananas and milk chocolate and similar should be side stepped, I have almond / coconut pancakes (lately with mixed in peanut butter), yesterday low carb blueberries muffins, berries with Greek yogurt, cheese cake, cheeses.
If possible can you upload a picture of the suggested meals you were told to eat.
You will need to private message me if you would like my view.Hi
I was given the 2 page food fact sheet for type 2 from the association of UK dietitians. I cant upload it, not very tech savvy
It generic so tells me reduce portion size, eat a balanced diet and use the eatwell plate, which contradicts what I think I should be doing.
When I woke up this morning my reading was 15.4
Breakfast scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and spinach and coffee
Tested 2hrs later and I am 16.0
Is that ok?
Download the mysugr app and record your food and numbers. I found it hight motivating when I first started. After a few days it will give you an estimated hba1c based on the data you enter. Obviously this won't be accurate until you have entered a few weeks worth. There is a free version.
