Type of diabetes
Type 2
My mum has been type 2 for 30+ years and well controlled apart from when she has a cold etc when b.s levels raise to about 13- 15 Her normal levels are about 3.0 upon waking and 10 ish during the day, but she has been on Digoxin 125mg for past 3 weeks for atrial fibulation and b.s levels are now 10 + on waking up and around 16+ during the day. Her doctor says that the new meds are not responsible and wants to increase her metformin saying it's no longer effective for her, Is he right?

I have the same problem, I am 78 had type 2 diabetes for about 30 years. Recently diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation and put onto digoxin and edoxaban. I used to use 58 to 60 units of insulin each day and have kept my Hbaic under 7 since diagnosed.
I now fimd I need to use at least 85 units of insulin and have increased my metformin from 2000 to 2500. to keep my morning readings below 7.
I have also found that my Gl reading is higher in the morning than at bedtime which is a bit worrying because I do not eat after 7.00pm.
Spoke to Doc last week and he is not alarmed but I am a little concerned
Any advice would be appreciated

Readings often are higher in the morning. From what I understand from reading the leaflet just now, it does affect kidney and liver function, so... Might be your liver is dumping a little more glucose in the morning, or you're a little more insulin resistant? No idea. You could cut down on the carbs a bit, but only if you test a whole lot, as, if you cut carbs drastically, you could hypo with the insulin you're taking.

https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/blog-entry/the-nutritional-thingy.2330/ might help a little. But don't change anything without talking to your doctor first! Cutting carbs whilst using insulin could kill you.
