Just had my Hb1Ac results - BG 6.2, very disappointing when you think my daily fingerprick tests have all been in the 5s but might be the statin causing the increase as fingerprick tests have gone into 6s and 7s since I started it. Demoralising after all my work. GP appointment in 2 weeks to discuss. Would like to come off statin but suspect the financial gain for the Practice will rule that out.

sorry your disapointed with your latest hba1c 6.2% is 44 which imo is pretty good. hopefully when see gp, appt goes well for you. agree after all good work seeing fasting levels pop up will be very demoralising, how long have you been taking them for?

Obviously you are disappointed with your HbA1c result @Outlier , but to me that figure sounds great. You are a ways away from the diabetic range where diabetic complications increase. Yes statins may cause a slight rise, but not in everyone. I’m on 20 mg Rosuvastatin, soon to go up to 40mg to counter very high Lipoprotein (a) s My high lipo a results increase my risk of stroke / heart attack x 8.The statins have had no impact on my blood sugars. As always risks v benefits.

Edit to add sentence

Your call on the statins…no one can force a pill on you.
I totally understand your disappointment. I get the same kind of results on a very strict diet, it’s so frustrating that the finger pricks and CGM numbers don’t correspond with A1C. But, as I tell myself, imagine what it would be if you didn’t do what you do for control.

Thank you for your kind words. I had a stroke and nobody knows why, so I am leery about dropping the statin until I speak with my GP. I dropped the 'flozin after the scare letter from the surgery and because it was totally inappropriate to the point of being dangerous for someone on a keto diet. I do get so fed up with having to fight my corner over medication that is general, and inappropriate to my particular situation. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to hand one's health care over to a professional who actually treated us as individuals.
