Hello everyone. I was diagnosed as an "unusual case" after having gestational diabetes about 5 years ago. We are pretty sure I am a rare case type called MODY. Anyhow, I currently watch my carb intake and take metformin and Ameryl (a sulfy...) I love to work out but always get discouraged because within a week of working out I feel bloated, my legs feel bigger and my stomach (those are the two main areas). It has always been difficult for me to lose weight, I was never overly overweight, but when I was diagnosed I lost 15 pounds of weight right away that I had been trying to do for years. I do not want to gain that weight back, so I get easily discouraged when I workout and it makes me feel worse instead of feeling better. How do you combat this? Does the bloated feeling eventually go away? My sugars are not out of control no matter what, (exercise or no exercise) I keep. Very close eye on my sugars. I love to workout, I really do, it's a stress reliever for me, but it defeats the purpose if I only feel worse afterwards. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

For a start change your food lifestyle not your diet start to eat and make it for life.

Next never weigh yourself, get a tape measure and use that. I hit the same weight probem as yourself but realised just in time what everyone who knew had told me was true.
Muscle is heavier tha fat when you excercise and go low carb high fat you loose fat and gain muscle. If you weigh yourself you will give up...if you measure yourself you will be fine. If you can get hold of a pair of calipers of Amazon with instructions use those even better. They pinch you and so do a really good measure. Also instead of seeing big numbers 50inch waist you will see 23mm on a pinch (not exact is to give an idea) and calipers are more presise as fat squeezes

There is an awful myth about weight and it causes so much upset ignore it totally and look at fat. My PT Ste posted this photo on his site that may help you understand the fat v muscle weight debate l said. The muscle is small and compact but tiny compared to fat but see how little muscle to make the same weight of icky fat. Hencde get rid of fat you will loose some lot of weight if you have no muscle but as soon as you start to excercise and gain muscle you will gain GOOD weight.

Look for weight callipers or body fat callipers (both names are used) they need to come with instructions. Only do yourself every couple of weeks though or you will loose heart. They are an aid not an aim . I have gone from 28% body fat to 19% at last check about 2 weeks ago.

The above 2 posts may be of no use at all but on the other hand they may be l still say though use calipers even if the fat/muscle thing isnt going on. Also look at the book Grain Brain and see if that is a help.
