My consultant and I had an article published in the autumn edition of Update, talking about how HCPs in the NHS can support those of us looping.

Hopefully it helps areas and people where HCPs are less supportive.

Hi @tim2000s . Slightly off subject but still techy . Was talking to a T2 who lives up in Newcastle the other day.
Both himself and his father ( also diabetic ) get involved in various trials.
He was telling me that next year they want him to trial an adhesive patch that changes colour depending on BS levels.
He’s not insulin dependent , only metformin.
It seemed a strange way for technology to be moving regarding BS monitoring. Was curious if you might know more about colour changing patches as a form of monitoring.
You always appear to be at the cutting edge when it comes to “ new stuff “ for us lot.:)

Are you able to link to it Tim? Would love a read!

Not wanting to speak for @tim2000s , Engineer, but if you click on the image, it'll get much bigger (on my laptop anyway), and easy to read the article, if that's what you mean.

:shy: shame face! lol I should have tried that, didn't realise it would get bigger :)

Great article @tim2000s and very interesting to hear how it's been received, publicising this is a huge positive as aside from inspiring those who wish to try it, it shows the lengths insulin dependent diabetics are going to in regards to improving their quality of life and outcomes. Personally I would like to get to this point as i'm now using the G6 and 640g and would like to close the gap between the 2.

Very impressive @tim2000s and wonderful to read about the support you have received from your consultant.

I regularly receive the Diabetes Update magazine. When I was first diagnosed, I asked for it and have been sent it ever since for no additional cost. I would probably say 60 - 70% of the content is of no interest to me but it is more interesting than the fluff written in their Balance magazine which is available to most members. It also contains less advertising inserts which go straight in the bin. I find it interesting (and sometimes useful) to read what our healthcare teams get to see.

However, I need to learn to read what is written rather than what I think should be written.
In the latest edition, the top billed front page article is "Making hospitals safe for people with diabetes". I read it as "Making hospitals safe from people with diabetes" and my mind got carried away with diabetes consultants and dieticians cowering from talking to some of us after they have been less than helpful with their advice.

Sadly that's not something I've seen anywhere.

That many new ideas it’s hard to keep track:).
Thanks. I’ll have a look myself.

This is what i want to do as well. Cant find tims orriginal post on this topic but i have been envious ever since.

Atm ive found android aps its now in my s7 happly recieving readings from glimp. i didnt think it would be as dependant on night scout as it is but its running in simulation mode giving recomendations and looks god so far.... my next step is to convince my endo to aprove a dana rs pump . Tim is way ahead of the eight ball. :)

Im hoping my phone can do the same thing....

Endo is the wild card will i get the approval...... not sure but i want to get better control..... and safer..

2 weeks to work out how im going to convince the endo it would get an improvement over needles... to me makes sense set the bottom of the target for normal have another profile for driving.. tonight it was screaming at me at 4.5.....

Its definetly the future.
