I've had really wierd Dizziness this week,I just have to move my head and just feel generally unsteady. Then yesterday I suddenly started with earache, something I never get! It's kept me awake all night and hurts when I try to eat or open my mouth!I've no cold or sore throat but just earache.I'm just drinking, tried some scrambled eggs this morning but too painfull.I've managed to get my numbers down to 8.00 on waking then between 9 and 12.3 in the daytime.I know my BP is still 150/180 .But this is something completely new.I've been taking Co-Codamols all week but these just give me awful nightmares :( Any suggestions very welcome.

BP........ Is that 150/180  Or 150/80 ?? Either way it is high. High BP can cause symptoms such as you describe.......been there, done that etc.... :(

If you have an ear infection that could be affecting your balance causing dizziness. I had that once and a course of some drops from the Doc soon sorted things out. It is also a fact that any sort of infection can play havoc with your Bg levels.

You should see your GP and discuss.

Hi thanks for your reply.Yes my BP was /180 when she sent me home for bed rest at the weekend. It's now 160/80 and my dizziness is still playing havoc, even just turning my head. Was told to just rest and see the Doc next wednesday.I've been on the same Beta Blockers for 15 years now and was controlling it!!Must admit to feeling lousy tonight what with earache still hammering away, but no appointmnts till next week.Receptionist just said if it gets worse go to A&E.My numbers are still up but understand what you say about the dizzinness etc not helping. Thanks again,am going to sleep in armchair tonight lying down just makes me feel worse :(

I'd be on the phone to NHS direct asap if I couldn't sleep lying down (they put you through to a doctor quite quickly), that doesn't sound right at all.

Hi Virginia.

TBH, I would tell the 'Receptionist' that you want an Emergency appointment tomorrow morning. Your BP is very high and really should be addressed by the GP,especially as you feel so bad.

I am sorry, I would not accept such a thing from any HCP. If they refuse to see you then complain and as suggested go to A&E or as another poster suggested ring NHS Direct. This is unacceptable !

i totally agree that you need to see someone, if you have earache its more than likely an infection and you need to be seen asap :)

Hi thanks for all your replies.I'm hoping to see the Doc tomorrow or Tuesday, felt so poorly all weekend, still have the earache/jaw ache and feel like I'm on a boat all the time with the dizziness which is making me feel nauseous too now.Richard(my hubby) say's my eyes are almost shut all the time and I had to stop taking co-codamol as they're giving me the most awful nightmares and headaches.I just don't feel "with it " at all especially my head. Not sure what my sugars are because I need new strips and I'm snowed in at the moment!!Richard can't take me to the Docs because he has to leave for work at 7.30 am because of the weather and it's after 6pm when he gets home so I'm on my own all day tomaorrow again I just hope the Taxis are working and will come up the road(they wouldn't last week)! We have a steep drive that I wouldn't dare walk down with my sticks.I just hope I feel better soon, the only "up" side is I've lost half a stone in 10 days :) I can't feel any worse than I do right now and I can't believe I'm saying that because I've always been so possitive about things, but I'm just so so tired.
