Interesting. I had trouble with milk, especially if it was everyday like with cereal and in drinks, but I could always tolerate ice cream and cheese and yoghurts.I am going to the shops far less these days, so I ran out of cream and decided to use some ordinary milk -and I think I am now intolerant of lactose. I waited a few days and then tried a tiny glass of milk - with a lesser but similar result.
I have not had milk for 5 years, so perhaps it is simply a matter of 'use it or lose it' with lactase production.
As we get milk delivered, I put in an order for a pot of cream once a week, starting yesterday and I don't react to cream.
I also have IBS and Colitis, have had long before diagnosed with T2 diabetes. Was told there is no connection by my specialist but I'm not so sure as so many of us have these problems in various degrees. Also have a hiatus hernia so get reflux a lot and bloat big time, but since going Low Carb/Keto not bloating so much. I can only have long life milk as some enzyme (not sure which) is removed, was advised to try it by specialist and it suits me well. Hope your problem decrease.I am wondering how many of you, both T1’s and T2’s, have digestive issues, and if these digestive issues played a role in your diabetes? I read that dairy and gluten intolerance can contribute to the onset of T1. I for one am lactose intolerant, I have GERD and can suffer with IBS. I am also mildly sensitive to gluten, I bloat if I over consume anything with wheat in it.
I have goats milk lactose free but still suffer if I have too much in tea. I cannot eat cheese and yoghurt at all now - stomach ache, headache and joint pain after. I can eat butter though wierd! Nothing came back on the tests which stumped me but I gave up wheat when I went low carb, I would balloon terribly if I had wheat. So glad I gave it all up.Interesting.
