Had an itchy rash for 2 weeks now, so went to doc.
Started off with itchy anus and testicles.
Now its itchy testicles and rash on inner thinghs.

He said the rash appears to be a fungal rash, the same as Diabetics get, yet didnt check me for Diabeties there and then
Ordered a blood test for about 2 weeks time and gave me some cream.
Seems a bit bliase for my liking, but I presume its not a serious risk?

I'm now really worried that I might have diabeties.
The wait is horrendous already.
Is there any chance that I might not have it?
Couldn't I just have a fungal infection?

How can he tell from a rash?

I never heard this as a syptom before, and I dont have thirst, or any other syptoms.

Your advise or experiences would be most welcome for one worried newby

Fungii just love warm moist places!! Have you been on antibiotics lately? People can often get these fungus after antibiotics because the 'good' bugs have been killed as well, letting the fungus bred.Hygiene?? Especially in warm weather.

Diabetics are prone to fungus because fungus also like sugar and an out of control diabetic excretes sugar in urine etc.Good luck with your test, and hope that ,this time a fungus is just a fungus!

I wouldn't worry too much, this test is probably just a sensible precaution. Many non-diabetics get fungal infections for all sorts of reasons, and they are usually very easy to treat. Do you have any of the other symptoms of diabetes (excessive thirst, tiredness, tingling toes etc?). It is possible to have diabetes without any symptoms, but if that is the case then it is likely to be at a very early stage. If you do have it then it is a very good thing if you can catch it before it starts to cause symptoms because then you could learn to manage it before it does you any harm.

Let's hope that you don't have diabetes, but If you do, then it isn't so bad. Of all of the major "incurable diseases" that you might think of, it is probably the easiest to manage. Once they get it under control, most diabetics learn to lead quite a normal life despite the diabetes. In fact, some people find that the lifestyle changes diabetes forces on you improves their general levels of health and well-being no end.

I was diagnosed 10 years ago - initially just with a numbness in one thigh. Then they computed a 25% in 10 years heart attack risk. Last check the risk was 16%. I'm still playing tennis at 69.

I had similar itching earlier this year - I had not thought it could be diabetes related until your post, but my overnight blood sugar had drifted up above 7. It did not respond to standard fungal creams, & needed a steroid cream.

Thanks to this forum, I have reduced my carbohydrate consumption & my overnight BS below 5.5 which is a non-diabetic level.

Incidentally, I keep baby lotion in the toilet, & always clean up with that.

If you go to a chemist - particuarly Lloyds, you can probably get a free test done. This will give you an indication in meantime.
