Does anyone have trouble with leg cramps?

I have had cramps in hands mostly for several years, tried magnesium, extra salt, more water etc. Since getting my bg down to normal levels I rarely get them now but I did slip from my narrow LCHF path last Saturday - McD - and when I got home and tested after an hour and a half bg was 9.3 and I kept getting cramps the whole afternoon. Never thought it could have to with diabetes.

I am on this site because I'm looking for advice on healthy diet (I have cancer and heart failure). I have had PERSISTENT B AD CRAMPS for years. Quinine helps but it doesn't cure it. Any other suggestions please?

Eeek,
Diet advice here will probably not be very useful to you unless you have diabetes. When you have diabetes your body is unable to process sugar and carbohydrates effectively any more, so dietary advice here takes this into consideration.
I would hope your doctors/healthcare professionals would be able to offer some guidance and suggestions to help you. Make sure you are getting all the support you need.

My worst cramps were in my thigh, agony. My docotor suggested I take Vitamins B1, B6 & B12. I have never had anything that worked so quickly! They totally disappeared overnight. I have been taking the vitamins for two weeks now and have had no cramps, thighs, calves & hands are all clear.
I hope this helps you too. Good Luck!

Both my mother and I have regular cramps, particularly in hot weather.

Her response it to tip salt on everything. That seems to work really well. But I'm not convinced that a very high salt diet is of longterm benefit. Mind you, she is 82, and has been doing it for 40 years - so what do I know?

My response is to take potassium supplements (cheap as chips from Holland and Barratt). This works extremely well.

No doctor has ever shown any interest, or run any tests - they just glaze over and default to 'lose weight, exercise more!' And ignore anything else.

I suspect/speculate a hereditary problem with absorbing potassium...
