Does Anyone Know Why This Has Happened??

Hmm, I've had a bit of a bleed occasionally.

The below is for the dexcom ONE not ONE+ but I can't see why the advice would be different.

Should the sensor be replaced if bleeding occurs?
It may not be necessary to remove your sensor, but if you experience bleeding and the bleeding spreads through the patch, please follow the below:

  1. Remove the sensor and insert a new one at a different location. For guidance on inserting a new sensor, please consult
  2. Submit a Product Support Request
  3. to report the issue.
Why is there blood around the sensor site?
For the insertion needle to reach the interstitial fluid (where it measures the glucose), it must penetrate the dermis layer of the skin, which has blood vessels scattered throughout. Penetrating the blood vessels can cause bleeding. Inserting the sensor too deeply into the body, can also cause bleeding. Be sure you aren’t using excess pressure when applying your sensor.
Seek medical attention if you feel medical intervention is necessary.

You could always ring dexcom customer support if you are worried?

It wasn’t bleeding when I applied the sensor the night before! I only noticed the redness while in the bath last night!

I’m not worried about it. It should be fine!

I bleed every time! I often wonder is it because I lift heavy things, or my arms are particularly skinny. No clue, but I bleed and it doesn’t seem to have affected the cgm data.
