Does red wine help BG control??

YES!!!!!

Only kidding...........

Any alcohol will lover your blood sugar as the liver slows it normal glucose secretions as it tries to expel the alcohol....

it all depends what the alcohol is mixed with and whether its contains carbs as to what you need to with regards insulin and carbs...

red wine has next to none, so having a few glasses wont do much, although you may want to have a small snack before bed with no insulin......

larger amounts of wine will likely send you low by morning and may continue in to the next day, so this is the attractive aspect of it, but trying to predict and control this blood sugar dropping effect is next to impossible as what can happen one night could be completely different the other.....

it certainly shouldn't be used to control your blood sugar....lol

Red wine has little effect on my bg levels, but should it be used to control bg levels then the answer has to be NO, like all alcohol wine should only be consumed in moderation.

I'm T2 not on insulin but thought I would share what I experience, I usually only drink with a meal, I find that for that evening and the next day my bs are lower BUT then for 2 or 3 days after they go higher and find I can't get them down. This may help you it may not
