Doing a Fung!

Does your BG spike as a result of eating any kind of carbs? Mine spikes after eating grapes, but not starches. I'll test other fruits in the future. So far since I've had my meter I only ate grapes.
It all depends on you and how much you eat, I can have maybe at most 2 quadrants of Orange, very small Apple, very small pear, a few grapes, a handful of berries or strawberries.
You will have to test and find out.
4 grapes is my limit, fun ain't it!

Nosher, don't overdo it! Be a bit moderate, mate. Have a few days off in between your marathon fasts ...

After 389 days of fasting for what happened?

He went from something like 200 kg to 83 kg, during the days the fast lasted. They checked up on him afterwards, and two years later he weighed 87 kg. The important thing is that he maintained his weightloss.

Probably because like me the stomach had shrunk. Bet he had to have an intravenous dripof nutients etc to reintroduce eating...

Bobby Sands was a true faster... Well starver.... He died after 49 days.. Aged 27.

I guess a huge difference between starving and fasting!!!

Don't know how they call it fasting when they are artificially feeding nutrients such as glucose etc...a fasting to me is nothong but water.

They did it some days to test, I get it from this paper, day seven and 55, but you must agree that he fasted quite a lot in spite of this.

yes, I do agree, tha history of fasting is full of people going on hunger strike, and most of them diet around 40, 50 days, I have seen some go after one month, and some after two. And there seems to be an overweight of indians and irish who have embarked on these endevaours, not hate you british people lol

Also Bobby sands probably did not weight 200 kg

I don't think they were. I think he just got water. Df no glucose, that was part of the point.

Yes, with a true hunger strike the crucial point is about 28 days, I was told long ago by a former terrorist ex. After that the body's organs break down irreversibly. So then people mostly die around five/six weeks, he said.

But the huge guy with the famous fast had plenty of fuel to go on - fat => ketones.

Does state day 7 and day 55 of refeeding 1000kcal carbohdrate only....

A fast in my opinion, is a period without solid food or fluids that contain anything but water.
You need water and tea and coffee gives you antioxidants that help your body recover, if you have the caffeine free brand even better.
My fast yesterday was a breeze all day until the scoring for Eurovision song contest came on, must have had some adrenalin pumping, cos, I was desperate for my yoghurt and chocolate treat. But my will won through.

I put fasting down to the same as you nosher.. I'm going to have a good look at that 300+ day fasting... It certainly must have had key vitamins and minerals fed in somewhere....

I can attribute to feeling much better after a days fasting, (it's actually, around 30 hours plus) because of sleep. Eating a little all day seems to decrease my appetite somewhat. Fasting does rejuvenate my body and I do actually feeling hungry. Till I get bored again mid week and in work, that bit is hard, finding something to eat, I wouldn't want to try a fast whilst working cos sometimes it can be physically tiring. And I need my energies restored through the day.
My fasting gives my body a rest from the extra insulin I produce and I have no fear of going hypo. It saves on test strips, the food bill and cooking time. But I still have to feed the wife! Can't have everything!

I fast all day 6/7 says a week until tea time.. I just don't feel hunger pangs at all. The one day a week would be my free cup of coffee and a cake with hubby at Waitrose. That is solely because someone else is with me though..
Made my consultant laugh a few weeks back....and Accuchek staff because everybody else does fasting tests for their basal rates on a pump. As I eat so rarely during the day when I do, I count it as bolus testing!!! I don't have to specifically rake days of fasting for basal testing as I effectively do this the vast majority of the time.
