Well done, good work!!!Well pleased, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes on 22nd July 2022 with a HBA1C of 110. I was prescribed to take Metformin 4 x 500g daily and to loose weight.
I joined this site and studied the forums and followed much of the advice on here. I went low carb virtually cutting out Bread, Pasta, Rice and Potatoes but ate plenty of meats, fats, cheeses, Cauliflower rice and salads and massive fibre intake, never felt hungry throughout. The weight fell off me and I lost 5.5 stones. I did cut out beer as I found that made my blood glucose shoot up but stayed with the dry ciders and Vodka and Whiskey when I do have a drink. These don't make my blood/glucose shoot up and if anything make them drop slightly.
Fairly quickly my HBAC1 fell to around 35/37 and since the summer, with the advice of the DBN and Doctor slowly reduced the Metformin until finally this week after my last HBAC1 test still showed mid 30's have now ended the Metformin on their advice and my wishes. ( Gave me severe constipation). Now on week one without Metformin and the constipation seems to be heading in the right direction.
I have my next HBAC1 test in about 2 months and if all good will revert to 6 month testings. Although I eat a lot more fat my Cholesterol is in the normal range.
I was a bread, rice, pasta and chip monster, have completely changed what I eat and only have these things as a very rare treat and much much less than I used to.
The advice on this site did it for me, not the advice on diet by the medical profession who still seem to advise the wrong food for type 2's in my opinion. I tell them every visit.
Thanks diabetes.co.uk and all those people posting their real experiences, certainly helped me.
