Pretty much happens everyday. One minute wide awake the next I'm fast asleep. Somedays I even nod off with a mug of tea in my hand and wake up with soaked trousers.

Does anyone else have this problem.

Hello @Lucy59 and welcome to the forum.

Yes, I've lost count of the number of times I've nodded off unintentionally, especially on cold days when coming indoors to a warm room. I've yet to tip a drink over myself, but I've had some near misses!

Good to know it's not just me. I'm not overly bothered by it and to be honest I think my age plays a big part. I'm approaching my mid 60's now.

This can really be a big problem if you're drinking red wine .

I do fall asleep without intending to. One time I nodded off at 10:00 am, after stopping at traffic lights. I had only been driving for 30 minutes, so not particularly tired.

Is your blood glucose high when this happens?
High BG makes me very drowsy.
Highs don't make me tired but sometimes when i'me going a bit low I feel so sleepy !

Do you test your blood glucose?
I would want to rule out high numbers when the dozing off happens.

Glad to see you adjusted your profile to show the correct type, things can get confusing otherwise. ;)

Sleepyness isn't a low symptom for me, but I don't expect lows are an issue for Lucy59, she's a T2 treated by diet only.

I am doing the same.usually about 7pm.was taken off linagliptin a month ago and numbers going up.I put it down to that.

Sometimes when its cold and I go on the spin bike, half way through I am yawning my head off no idea why, I just think its the cold. Never had it when sat down, apart from before diagnosed and would nod off when I had a carb laden meal.

Yes, I have weird fatigue, like you, @Lucy59, just about every day. It comes on at anytime, sometimes several times a day & sometimes when I've not been up long. I have spinal problems & when my head drops, I have sparks go off in my nerves & I do the most incredible twitches. I'm glad I'm solo, I'd scare the life out of anyone here to see. :woot: If I can't slap myself out of it, literally, I have to go to bed. Have checked my blood & there's nothing from that. Luckily I don't drink tea, but I've knocked my water bottle flying a couple of times, still haven't learnt to close the lid.

Just saying !

Have you considered asking your GP for a referral to a sleep clinic? Sleep apnea and diabetes are often linked, usual treatment for sleep apnea is a CPAP machine to use overnight. This can make a huge difference to the amount of quality sleep you get and cure the tiredness during the day. Google the ' Epworth Scale' and complete the questionnaire as this may be useful when speaking to a GP should you decide to try going down that route.

Hi @Lucy59, welcome to the forum.

Do you know what your latest hba1c result was and when was that taken?

Leading up to my diagnosis, for probably 6 months prior to it, I used to fall asleep very easily and nap. At this point, given my diagnosis hba1c result, I'm assuming in hindsight that it was caused in part at least by high blood glucose levels.

You all need to raise this with your gp, sound like sleep apnoea
