Dr Phillip Lee MP - Try Engaging Brain

Well yes, a mindless, thoughtless, stupid idea, lets carry out a trial. Lets start with 'Bracknell', I'm sure the residents with Diabetes Type 2 who live in Bracknell will be thrilled to be the first. It might be an idea to remove 'Caring for Bracknell Constituency' from your website.

1)It would cost quite a bit of money to administer a database
2)Diabetes has risk of complications - could add further cost
3)You would have to carry out assessments - another cost there
4)You would have to hear appeals another cost there
5)You have people that couldn't afford the meds - creating a sub class
6)You will find people buying meds which haven't been approved
7)A black market in untested drugs from abroad
7a) Alcohol abuse, has a huge cost to the NHS £2.7bn annually.
7b) Yes step up education for people with diabetes 2, but don't make them 'outcasts' and don't tell them 'they shouldn't expect the best treatment'.

He was on BBC London saying the drugs cost were relatively cheap. Did a rough cost analysis for the ones I get prescribed per annum it would cost approx £300.

Here is the article,

If you feel the need to respond to the article then this G .P./MP can be contacted here

http://www.phillip-lee.com/

M.P.'s do not live in the real world, work hard at trying to divide and rule lately because of the austerity the country is experiencing and do not care if the NHS is eventually disbanded and we have to pay for care as they will be able to afford it. Everyone who is sick/disabled is deemed capable of work, people who do not work are all classed as scroungers regardless of their circumstances, working people on minimum wage are relying on food banks, public sector workers are pitted against those in the private sector and they find all this acceptable.

He has also shown how little some G.P.'s understand diabetes and as a result, people are getting poor care and education to help them manage this chronic condition.

His article will also inflame Type1 diabetics as a lot of the general public are not aware of the distinction between the two types .

Dare not say what I really think of Dr Lee

Hi Cath

The big joke is that there are people who have Type 2 but who don't know they've got it, early intervention is needed. The NHS are advocating people get themselves tested like yesterday, the good Doctor is saying people visit their Doctor too easily, they should endure some uncomfort as previous generations have. His position is confusing.

To me this shows how egotistical and self serving idiots MPs are. As pointed out by many people not all diabetics are fat, and not all fat people are diabetics. If we asked MPs to pay for their 2nd homes, cut their expenses to a normal persons i.e. we pay for our own car, petrol, cabs, toilet paper, furniture, clothing and cleaning I wonder how much that would save the tax payer.

Another solution is get a billionaire to give every person in the country £1 million that would cost them around £60 million or 2 permiership players we could all then pay for everything and poverty, homelessness would be taken care of in 1 fouls swoop

Goodness, that a sobering but true thought :!:

I think this article from historian Mary Beard is worth a read in the context of this thread. Politicians with their snouts in the trough, Bankers who have had a huge part to play in the financial collapse of the UK and Politicians like Mr. Lee sadly lacking the basics about Type2, and opening his mouth before engaging brain.

In the ancient world, the rich held themselves to very different standards from the poor. Not much has changed argues classic historian Mary Beard.

He's too busy appearing on TV. (Sky and BBC.)

Hopefully taking back what he said and apologizing.

Thankyou Catherine - have spat out my fourpenny's worth

So patients pay for lifestyle choices? What about sports injuries, clearly lifestyle choices. Any exercise related injury or problem, lifestyle choice. Getting mad at stupid MPs, maybe even that's a lifestyle choice! The NHS will soon cost the Govt. nothing at all, easy peasy.
