Dr Robin Willcourt

He seems to have a bit of a dodgy reputation at least as far as AFL goes, but that doesn't really have anything to do with what he's saying here. Google him.

I don't know anything about him, and he sounds a bit extreme/biased at times, but as far as I'm aware, for the most part what he's saying is basically fact.

When you have enough money to back you. They can make selling sand to Arabs a wonderful idea!

I'm getting sceptical of people jumping on the bandwagon. We are vunerable as we still haven't clear answers and agreed nhs support.
Listen but make your own mind up.
I like proof.
If it works for me, then I go with it. If not, it has to be rethinked!

For me the proof, as they say, is in the pudding. To some degree I'm following much of what he supports and after 6 months BS is well under control without medication, BMI is 21 and at 58 years have not felt fitter since I was around 30 years. This situation may or may not be sustainable in the long term but who knows and in any case what are the alternatives - the NHS?

I recall quite a few people being accused of the same in that era (I have noticed the chap in charge of sky TV has the same accusations this week ) Does not mean they are not all true. It just seems strange to me that they consistently seem to be a thorn in the side of certain parties and the timing coincides with them being vocal or standing for election.

Its a good presentation but the want to to know if anyone is familiar with the guy. Is he a reliable source?
He is qualified in Obstetrics and Gynaecology but asserts that climate change is a hoax. This indicates he is happy to make pronouncements outside his area of expertise.

He's a climate change denier?

***!

Absolute rubbish. If you cared to study the science you would know that there is no such thing as AGW via CO2. We are heading into an Ice Age and that has very serious consequences for the planet. CO2 is our best friend-- it makes plants grow and in return we get oxygen. The idiot professor is a perfect example of our academic detritus. No brains and no knowledge, but a lot of cream puffery. We do not need this sort of rubbish!!!
I'm not sure that terms such as 'absolute rubbish', 'idiot professor', 'academic detritus','no brains' and 'cream puffery' contribute to a well-reasoned scientific argument.

It would be fallacious to dismiss his claims about LCHF on the basis of his total ignorance of the science of AGW, but hearing these sorts of views is never a promising sign. Such people tend to be indicative of a worldview I want nothing to do with.

ghost_whistler are you doing better on your LCHF diet & have you lost weight? I have lost 3 stone since Jan 2017, thanks for this video.
Climate deniers are wrong but not all climate change is man made, volcano eruptions cause much more climate change than man, but they cant tax volcano's.
The diet has some positive, better BS control and some weight loss. But it isn't all plain sailing. I still get hungry more than people who sell the LCHF lifestule would have you believe, and I don't have the boundless ennergy and focus that others talk up.

It's possible he could have all sorts of loathsome views and be right about diet.

It's unfortunate though.

You're probably still a bit deficient in your fat intake.. hence the hunger.

I get hungry. I dont have boundless energy and focus. But my blood sugar levels are now normal, thanks to LCHF, and that a huge hurdle to have climbed. But my fat intake is important to how well I can get through a day.

Lots of people have views on climate change. As subjects to disagree about I find it hard to think of weather forecasting as "loathsome". We have a local weather forecasting service and they frequently report stuff the "popular media" "create climate change hysteria" about has happening before from their 150 years of records. Sensationalism sells papers and ratings. To point out the facts are being sensationalised does not make someone loathsome. To hold a different view to the "popular media" does not make someone loathsome. Well; certainly not if the focus is weather especially given the acceptance of agro chemical behaviour having a more immediate influence on the future of the planet. Inflicting pain, harm, suffering to people or animals, especially shooting them for fun; that imho is loathsome although i know that some people think it acceptable.

I found this very interesting and what left the most lasting impression was the importance of avoiding grain and sugars, can't argue with that. Also his point on triglycerides made good sense to me, so overall it rather enforces the appeal of the low carb diet and the avoidance of polyunsaturated fats. Thanks for the link, has spurred me on to try harder
