Dr Unwin on Radio 4's Food Programme

Hubby and I Iistened to this (unplanned, it was just on the radio whilst we were driving). Hubby used to think that CICO was correct, after all, there's some logic to it.

After his month long low carb experiment to improve fatty liver he no longer agrees with the CICO guy. Hubby knows he consumed more calories than normal whilst following low carb and yet he lost a stone.

One month is all it took to realise that CICO is not the be all and end all. Low carb is gentler and more effective with longer lasting results.

Ah, that explains why he was talking about the 800 cal diet with porridge and lentil soup. ;) Good grief.
Yes he was! I can't for the life of me understand why he thinks that is more satisfying than low carb. My hubby said ' I'm glad you didn't try to put me on his diet' lol I said that I didn't think all those carbs would've helped his fatty liver one bit. 'Phew' he said. :)

I explained the CICO error as the same as putting the wrong fuel into a car - it is fuel, yes, but the vehicle just splutters to a halt, maybe with clouds of choking smoke, and the tank remains full.
On the right fuel the vehicle accelerates away, shoots off to the horizon and empties the tank.
