Hi I have a party this weekend can u tell me can I drink alcohol I normally drink vodka & tonic iam asking as I've only recently been diagnosed with diabetes & i do no if I should drink ,I'm just getting my head around food lol

Thank you maybe I might have a couple of V&T if it not going to be to bad I've just got my sl down so don't want them going back up lol

If I'm going to a party where I might get a bit (or alot) tipsy I make sure I do extra testing & ensure that a couple of my friends know what to do in the event of a hypo. I drink Vodka & diet coke & find I'm more likely to have a hypo the following morning. Also be mindful if you're dancing alot the exercise can drop BG.

Can any one advise me. I am not happy with my doctor re diabetic management.if I change it could be no better so what is the point. Who do I turn to for expert advice. On diet and hba1c level varies from on rare occasions 6.3mmol to 9.3mmols my doctor said I have it well under control and will only test me once a year. He used to test every 6months.but said NICE have cahanged this. When checking with nice I find they have not!!!!!!

V and slimline Ts are fine. Watch out for sugar in full fat coke and Tonic as this will send your levels up.

I don't drink much these days but if I do it tends to be Grey Goose (Vodka) & cranberry juice.

Just remember a spirit by it's self will bring your blood sugar down, so have a sugary mixer to even things out!!!!

Depending on how much you have had, maybe a carb snack for bedtime as well, just in case......

Think everyone needs to be careful if drinking in excess. I would think diabetics, type 1 or more should take particular care, as we are all prone to funny things happening to our blood levels. Even non diabetics have
Been known to have severe sugar drops where alcohol is concerned. Take care everyone.
