I all

I got T1 3 years ago in October, I'm now on an accu check combo and love it, but my licence is due to be renewed in November. Do you know if the DVLA write to me or do I need to sort the renewal out myself. I have not had any complications but I guess they need to see my file? Any help you can offer would be great.

I was only diagnosed in February so have been reading up on this as I had to change my license etc. I was given the impression you have to apply for the renewal yourself, they won't contact you. So I would start that now! There are forms online I believe, you can request one is posted to you

Perfect, I thought that may be the case, ill call them tomorrow to make sure, however I noticed its £1.50 per minute. I bet your right, it will takes weeks to get sorted!

Re: Driving license renew

Hi

They send you a renewal. I have just got mine through after my 3 year one is due to expire in November. You get the renewal approx 3 months prior to yours expiring. Worth sending it off straight away though as all I have heard is people having trouble with DVLA. If they want to look at your medical reports etc, 3 months will fly by. Good luck

Re: Driving license renew

When you renew, make sure that you keep photocopies of your existing license. I was caught speeding whilst my license was going through its renewal. It caused a world of pain as the police would not except that my license was still valid because I had to send it away to be renewed.

Re: Driving license renew

I just received my renewal.
As said above it comes 3 months before your old one runs out.
You do have to fill in too many forms.

They want a consultant contact number and your GP contact number.
Plus many more bits of info.
Best tip is always have your driving license handy.
For your driving license number.
Keep healthy and good luck. ♥

Re: Driving license renew

I think I'll just renew again as soon as I get mine back ! I've been waiting since Jan now for LGV license ! Just one form after another ! Painfully slow in my opinion ! I'm fortunate I can still work but if I were reliant on my LGV, I'd be out of a job for sure.
