Having read the pros and cons of having to inform my Insurance Co. and DLVA I became worried, so I decided to err on the safe side and inform my Ins.co. Directline that I had been diagnosed with Type 2. A nice young scottish lady agent listened to my information and explained that Directline were not interested in the information and that it would not affect my policy in any way. But she said that she would add a note to my details saying that I had given them the information anyway.
Same thing applies to DLVA if your limbs are fully functional and your eyesight is not impaired you do not have to inform them. Still baffled Kayabee

The DVLA regulations state that if you are Diabetic and diet only or on tablets or Exanitide (Byetta) then you do NOT have to inform DVLA. It is only if there are certain complications or you are on Insulin that you need to notify DVLA.

Always check out the DVLA website for the latest information regarding this.

You ALWAYS have to notify your Insurance Company otherwise your Insurance could be rendered invalid. What the Insurance Company does about it is a matter for them. Make sure that you get the name of the person you speak to, time and date and keep a record of what is said if you do it by phone.

This has been discussed here many times and if you do a search you will find the other threads about the matter. Hope that helps. :)
