Yesterday I took my Bg before breakfast on waking and it was 9.3 had breakfast, then 2 hrs later felt very dizzy and sweating like mad. Took BG and it was 2.9 Is that normal?

No. It isn't normal. I see you are on no meds ?

How long after waking was it before you had breakfast and what did you eat/drink ? Had you been exercising or doing anything strenuous in the meantime ?

Took bg on waking I had breakfast about 30 min after waking. I had 2 wheatabix. Then I went to pc and upgraded my pc to windows 7. Whilst it was upgrading I drove to Wakefield (about 15 miles) to help my son move a table and 4 chairs into his new house. Tthen came home and took my b.g. I was very tired after this.

I was very tired after this.

I'm not surprised ! The weetabix would have put up bg but the strenuous exercise plus the driving would have used all this up in energy. You always need to be aware of just how much energy you are going to expend when you eat and watch your bg levels by testing regularly.

Thanks, I will learn to watch my energy levels. I still think I am 20 years old and fit as a fiddle. The family also puts a lot on me because I never say NO to them. I am going to have a meeting with my family and explain that I am not 20 anymore and that I need some space now to recover from the days, Well, whatever. LOL

BTW The doctor told me to eat wheatabix because it wouldn't put my levels up.

Weetabix is high in carbohydrates. 2 Weetabix with semi-skimmed milk has 32g carbs.

Carbs convert to glucose, therefore without testing 1 and 2 hrs (sometimes 3 hrs) after eating them YOU nor HE/SHE have any idea what they will do to you. Testing will tell you.

Geeez. I don't know why I listen to my doctor. Waste of space if you ask me.

Go on a high carb diet, lots of rice and pasta and bread It will help your levels, she said. Eat wheatabix for breakfast she said. Don't eat lots of veg and salad because it is bad for you and you will feel weak she said. Only test once a week or you will get worried about your levels, she said. Just eat what you would normally eat but not as much and you will be fine, she said. My doctor needs to join this forum.

I am gettingvery annoyed now.

Thank God I found this site.

Heavens...

Your GP is probably very good, but what he/she knows about Diabetes could struggle to fill the back of a postage stamp. As stated elsewhere, they are general practitioners, nothing more, nothing less. They will tell you things but YOU need to do YOUR homework and see what actually works for YOU.

I have a very good GP who knows little about Diabetes. The Practice Nurse is one who advocates cutting carbs down etc which is refreshing to hear. She is appalled at some of the advice Diabetic's are given. Both the GP and the PN have said that I know more about Diabetes than they do. Honesty.

My main clinical team are Hospital based and are an Endocrinologist and a DSN. Both absolutely wonderful and easy to talk to, as well as being very knowledgeable. Always know the latest information and willing to learn from the Patient's as well !

The Dietician I once saw is useless. I haven't seen her since, especially after I basically told her she didn't know what she was talking about. (Carbs do not make glucose - I kid you not)!!

As you said, "good job you found this site" Filled with Diabetic's, helping Diabetic's.
