Normally at our surgery, when you are given an appointment, it's fair to ask, "What time should I come for an 11:30 appt?" And a reasonable answer would be 12:00.

Today my appt was for 11:30, & I checked in at 11:35. I had to speak to the receptionist about a letter my wife wanted, & the Dr came to look for me. He looked in my ears, said there was no wax, & would refer me to the audio unit at the hospital. I was out at 11:43.

8 minutes from arrival to leaving !!!! Is this a record ????

Often depends on the Dr you see or how far behind they get, as with A & E they will treat urgent cases first so if someone comes in who needs prompt attention then they will be seen above everyone else.

Not sure about your surgery Ian but ours does a 5 and 10 minute slot for appointments, IMHO the 5 min slot is a joke as these appointments always get way behind and you can wait up to 30-45 mins to be seen depending how far you are into the appointment schedule, I've been seen straight away and out the surgery in 5 mins but then I've seen me wait over an hour on some occasions.

Ian.
If I used "experience" on appointment timing for my doctor's surgery, I'd leave home [4 miles away!] 5 minutes after my appointment time. What I do though is take my Kindle. Still if people before me get as much time as they need, I expect I will too. Mind you I only go about twice a year, just to get my batch prescriptions updated. AND I see the nurse twice a year!

I usually have to wait 20 minutes after my appointment time to be seen. On the day I was diagnosed I fell asleep in the waiting room..... Got the BG reading of 31 shortly after haha

I can beat you, I had an 'emergency' appointment yesterday for 4pm, I arrived at 20 to 4 and the doc came to get me at 1/4 to 4.

Could be a record.

When I have an appointment with my GP, the longest has been about 45 minutes that I had to wait  , but last week it was only 20 mins and I didn't even have time to finish the chapter I was reading. I always, always take my current reading book with me to appointments anywhere. I dislike waiting and I dislike sitting there not doing anything, but I love to read :D

I try my hardest to be one of the 'first' in the telephone queue, so I can try to get an early appointment, but that very rarely happens

Generally mine is brilliant even got called in 2 minutes before my appointment time a few weeks back

Only really had to wait once that was about 30 minutes but a family came out looking very sad bad news I'm sure so understandable
