I’ve just been able to drop one of my BP meds as with my weight loss etc my bp has become normal. It was a calcium channel blocker and my daily average bloods sugars has reduced noticeably. So in turn at my next review I may be able to reduce my Metformin. You can easily see how less informed or less interested people might just end up taking more and more tablets to combat the effects of each other. My aim is to do the opposite!
If you had not been diagnosed with T2 would it have occurred to you to ask your GP whether there was a risk of developing the condition with each medicine you were prescribed? I certainly would never have asked because T2 was not on my radar.
No I wouldn’t! My type 2 diagnosis has made me much more aware of all the medicines I take. Even being a nurse (retired now) I did just tend to blindly take everything I was prescribed without much thought. Not now!
You’re right, I don’t think it was my diagnosis per se that’s made me question things more, it was coming to this Forum! It does indeed rock! That is why I think this site Rocks! I have learned so much here and one of the most important things is what questions to ask. We live and learn.
