Type 2 Dry skin

Havent been on here for a while apart from struggling with diet and only seeing diabetic nurse twice a year can anyone let me know whether they have problems with DRY hands? Was diagnosed years ago with contact dermatitis, which did flare up in the winter but not so much in the summer. Now have had quite bad excema on the back of my hand and now have a problem with 2 inch dry skin on the palm of my hand and on thumb and second finger which gets quite sore but doesn't itch.
 
I don't have trouble with dry skin, I suspect due to eating fats, but I do use coconut oil on my hands after washing up or other housework where my hands have been in water. It seems to keep them in good condition.
An older treatment is goose grease, put on just before bed time and cotton gloves put on to keep it off the sheets.
 
I have had a very bad ezema on my hand and even had antibiotics , it helped along with cortizol-creme... coco-nut oul is also very good on the skin... .
now I am taking zink as well and vitamin K2 along with a multi vitaminpill andhope that this all in all will better my skin long term... :bored:

Nip to the chemist and get some Diprobase ointment (not cream). If my BGs go over 7, then my skin on hands and feet will dry and split - this stuff is magic and will sort the issue and any soreness within a couple of hours. I've got some cotton gloves and cotton socks from Wilco's (v cheap) to help the skin absorb it and so I don't transfer it anywhere else!
It was my chemist who recommended it, after every cream the GP suggested made the problem worse. It's only a couple of pounds per tube, and well worth the cost. May be available on prescription - I haven't asked.

Eucerin is also a good one. I've had a tendancy to dry skin for years and when I've neglected the skin on my lower shins it cracks. The 10% Eucerin is the only thing that sorts it out within a couple of days (if a bit pricy). I must admit now I've been diagnosed with Diabetes I look after my skin more. I also make sure I eat plenty of eggs in the week if I can, good proteins, fats and necessary amino acids which we need for hair, skin and nails.
