Dumb question alert! Can type 2 diabetics have hypo's if on tablets only? Not that I have had one yet.. I'm still on insulin basal (6 units of Toujeo daily) and my Metformin has been increased recently to 1 x 500mg twice daily.

I have seen a drop in levels since the recent med changes now averaging around 5-6 but pre meals are getting close to 4mmol/l.

If and when my nurse decides that I no longer require insulin, what happens to blood sugar counts? Obviously they can still rise to silly levels if I don't take care of my food intake. Could they drop to a dangerous low level?

Apologies if these seem daft questions but my brain is so foggy recently, I can't seem to get my head around it.

There's no such thing as a dumb question :) Some tablets can cause hypos, but at the moment it will be more likely to be your insulin. If/when your medication changes make sure you ask about the tablets you're prescribed so you know what to,expect.

Thank you, will do. :)

I had one on metformin only so was taken off and now diet controlled, perhaps I didn't need them in the first place but it dropped to 3.3 was awful. Hope you don't have one keep an eye on your numbers I'm sure you'll be fine xxxx
