DVLA Rant incoming

I have, also, received a driving licence renewal form, requesting a new photograph. My problem is that there seem not to be any proper photographers' shops in my area.. The options are using a photo machine or having a photo taken at a dry-cleaners shop. I will cross my fingers that my photo meets the DVLA's criteria.

Photo machine ones are fine @ElenaP

I know Tesco's usually have a photo-booth in their main stores if that;s any help?

I had to renew my photo on my driving licence a few years ago for a different reason, but I just gave permission that my passport photo could be used. Is that not the case with a medical renewal @Becca ?

They didn't want photo from me when switched to medical I provided they did not update it. Photo needs updated every 10 years. Varios licenses medical can be 1, 2, 3 years (might be other few which not aware of) photo only needs updating usually when after the period of time has elapsed shouldn't need update photo and medical unless it's same time (or within short time) of both running out together. If of any consultation you should require to update photo next time at medical renewal

@Rachox I don’t have a passport, but when I rang yesterday I was told a brand new up to date photo.
@grantg it is indeed time for a new photo unfortunately. Yes I renew every three years but photo hasn’t been done since my original twelve years ago and I’m afraid I have indeed aged.

I am about to get myself a new passport before they hike the price. I let my old one lapse as I knew for financial reasons I would be unlikely to require it and the driving license is a good substitute for identification purposes. The gripe is that you can do the photo ID on line for a passport but not the driving license. Which is quite frankly an inconvenience and unnecessary extra cost.

I’m not sure if Timpsons is a Scottish thing but they do passport photos here in Scotland .I’ve recently renewed my license and for the first time in ages I had to send a new photo

Timpsons do same here in north England, @Ushthetaff .
I had to get my first photo licence recently. Having kept the old paper licence issued in 1970s , as I hadn’t moved house. It was valid.
Timpsons sent me an electronic copy, to use in future when I have to renew licence. I believe there is the option for all electronic application in future. It was just necessary to send paper application for first photo card licence.

I had to do mine at the beginning of the year with the photo. In a booth at Asda. Hard & e copy.

Lol, still haven’t had a licence back from DVLA yet…
