No, there isn't any tram development on this stretch. I've yet to find out what the reasoning is behind why they felled all the trees and what their real plans are. I naively thought that the planners and architects of the city would have some eco guidelines in place to enhance and work with the natural habit, clearly not. They aren't just morons these monsters are something much worse. The sad thing is the wild life and established eco system has no voice and it is up to us to put it straight or live with the consequences.
I don't live in Manchester but have relatives on the route of the new tram system and have seen so much just wiped away and beautiful 50 year old trees taken out. Credit to them, they have planted three new ones for every one destroyed. My sister watched those trees grow from saplings over the 50 years and enjoyed all the creatures in the surrounding woodlands, (now also destroyed). All in the name of progress....what progress? Sixty years ago they got rid of the trams, now they are back with a wider route!! Who suffered most from this disruption? Nature
