Hello. Recently diagnosed R2. I have never drank Earl Grey tea but was at a wedding Saturday just gone and they served afternoon tea. I tried some and it was surprisingly nice. I quickly googled and found several sites saying that black and green teas can contribute to reducing blood sugar and weight, so I promptly added some to the grocery shop.

Had a few cups today and joined this forum but have been unable to find any posts directly relating to any benefits. Am I wrong? Should I stop drinking it?

I drink Earl Grey all the time! Have done for numerous years. Also love a nice cup of Green Tea :)

It's a great cup of tea.
As for weight loss and BG control, that's probably a stretch too far.... but if it contributes to well-being.... that's not a bad thing.

I love Earl Grey. The one downside for me is that I associate it with eating sweet food. It reminds me of cafes where I would order a ham sandwich, and a scone with jam & cream all washed down with a pot of Earl Grey. I can still enjoy it by itself, but that combo is hard to beat for my taste buds.

I wouldn't stop drinking anything you like unless you've found that it raises your blood sugars or leads to poor eating patterns.

I've just Googled now and it seems that some studies do suggest it can have health benefits, but I can't help suspect that it would be just as easy to find an angle that says it's bad for you, and it would certainly be very hard for any of us at home to detect any health effects unless we have something like an allergic reaction!

Love earl grey - great with ice and a slice with a sprig of mint in summer too, also try lady grey a bit more bergamot in it so very lemony

I made earl grey ice cream last year with my freezing plate was very subtle but a nice clean taste

I like earl grey tea too and have recently discovered red bush tea.

I like Earl Grey tea but I do drink more Red Bush tea because it is naturally caffeine free. As for any tea being good for lowering BG I had not really heard that

tea can help stave off appetite and keep you alert when you start to flag, so I've found it invaluable when dieting.
